Chris Hoy ................... speechless. Stunning victory to come back at the German like that.
Chris Hoy is a legend, Victoria Pendleton superb for the silver too but afraid being put back to second in the first heat was too much for her. Anna Meares is one tough cookie! Two out of three gold possibilities in the cycling is well good enough for me! 
Looking through this excellent and entertaining thread, just cannot agree with Comment #2 by Zenyatta. Just no way can the GGs compare with this; he can double or triple his list, it won't help. But, to each his own, of course!

Much more entertaining than I thought it would be Swanny. I guess us winning all those medals helps though. Imagine we had like 3 golds 2 silvers and 4 bronzes.......
I f*****g love the olympics. Did anyone else see the 'Black Caviar on wheels' banner that some of the Aussie fans had when Anna Mears won the Womens Cycling Sprints?
Tongue in cheek to some extent. But, for all the Olympics have been great, I'd take the Cheltenham Festival any day of the week. The Olympics is the pinnacle of sports that I'm not that interested in except for these two weeks. Cheltenham is the pinnacle of the sport that I follow avidly year in year out all the time.
The Olympics gives us the opportunity to see sports we would otherwise never watch being carried out at the highest level.
I was lucky enough to get a ticket for fencing and was enthralled by it. A friend of mine who is also a volunteer took the opportunity to see greco-roman wrestling (it's still a mystery to him)

"Black Caviar on wheels." gotta love it. Leading into the games, there had been a certain amount of heated competition between Queen Vic and Anna, especially after the World Champs in Melbourne where Meares sent Pendleton crashing into the boards at an horrendous speed. It's been no secret that these two ladies wanted each other's hide in the blue riband event, the sprint. But once the dust had settled after yesterday's final, both ladies were most gracious, particularly Queen Victoria. The woman is not only a great champion, but a person of depth.
As the athletes awaited the medal ceremony, Anna was reduced to tears when Queen Vic, in a private moment, warmly congratulated Meares on her performance, a gesture that brought the curtain down on years of head games between the two riders. The Australian said. "She gave me a hug and said that I deserved it, that I was a great champion." Meares added. "I just broke into tears - that was very, very kind."
I guess this is what the Olympics are really about. We all love the heroics, but it's the spirit of the games that helps make it the wonderful event we all love and admire.

Absolutely loving the Olympics and when I see the huge British crowds with the union flags it reminds me of the impending referendum on Scottish independance and Devo Max and how much I want neither...I would classify myself as a very patriotic Scotsman and I'm sure Hoy and Murray are as well...but I'm not for Salmonds agenda...Piss off Salmond we don't want it !!

Hear Hear - I am sick to the back teeth of Salmond and his vision of what independence would be like. He's living in fantasy land. The reality would be horrendous.
I cannot get over these sellout morning sessions in the Olympic Stadium, and mostly for heats too. Atmosphere is just as electric as the evening sessions with event semi-finals and finals. Incredible, it really is. The athletes themselves, of course, but just as importantly, the fans/spectators also have made this an unforgettable Olympic festival.
