And sometimes you're whistling in the wind Tobes. Having a nuclease of players with experience supported by whoever you can lay your hands on can also demotivate the good players that you do have. At least acknowledge that there's 2 sides to that coin.

Last season it worked well for you. There is no law that says the same level of loanee quality will be around for you this season.

We've operated in the same way for 12 years, so it's hardly a new concept and it's been consistently successful given our budget size - which we always out performed.

Which is fine but that's not developing is it? It's not getting you the next step but in fairness I have felt for a very long time moyes only took the fa cup seriously if any cup at times so now moyes is gone that step of being winners at some cup level should be that step

I never said it was mate. It was necessity that created the strategy, however it was consistently proven to work. A small group of pro's who shared and understood exactly what the manager wanted and it was the continuity and team ethic that helped the club over achieve compared to its budget

Yes, although the entity that we know as Dave, could potentially have more than one account.

But, if the entity you know as Dave had more than 1 account then it is highly likely that there would be similarities of expression and or thought which would help other posters to identify the true personality. That is, unless, I was able to control a split personality. However, that would, for me, be a waste of time and effort. Therefore let's accept that I only have 1 account.

In truth I do have another account but I've forgotten the password so I can't sign-in to it :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Now you are treading on very dangerous ground. Any strategy that remains fixed loses its ability to respond to the changes in the environment surrounding it. What appears to be a sound strategy today based upon previous performance tends to limit the ability of the organisation to set itself more appropriate targets.

Barca have sold two players so they can buy one to cover a position they didn't really need to

Buy a f**ing defence. Been clear for years.
Just like Real in the Galactico era and even now, it's all about buying big names to appease fans. Most big names are forwards

You've got Messi? We'll buy Ronaldo. You've got Ronaldo, we'll get Neymar. s**t, we'll get Bale then. Never mind, we'll buy Suarez. Real will now proceed to look at buying Falcao as they've been talking to agents already this summer, so reports say...

It's basically a big name arms race.

You might have missed the word - necessity, mate

However, the strategy was enhanced by academy expansion as we couldn't afford to buy at anywhere near the top end of the market. So we had to produce our own, or own own that became the budget! Or nick others youngsters on the cheap that became our own or our budget!

Being reported Suarez has signed for Barca for 88m euros

Can't complain at that to be honest considering initial reports were suggesting £54m.

So we get Barca in champions league group stages, what reception will he get?

I'd hope he gets a good one. We stuck with him through a hell of a lot and he helped get us back into the CL after years. Yes he has his problems but it was a joy to watch him play. I hope he goes on and does well for Barca to justify his place as one of the top players in the World at the moment.

Hey don't start on that one! The world has been waiting for the Everton Youth Team to bear some kind of fruit since before Dixie Dean was born!!! <laugh>

IMO sure the strategy is as you say, it's clear you've had a tight knit group and have kept it so but equally it'd be nice to see a pot as the over achievement not just flirting with Europa qualification

That is right up until lfc meet Everton in a cup tie of course

I think Martinez will try as an objective to deliver a pot

Yes, over the Ivanovich bite, but ****ing no when we let the FA get away with that kangaroo court/witchtrial and never even appealed, let alone took them to the CAS as we should have done. Luis is best player to wear the shirt since Barnes, and he's given his best years to a team that didn't even qualify for the CL when he was one of the best five players on the planet. No wonder Sanchez wouldn't touch us with a bargepole.

I, for one, will still wear his no7 with pride.
