I'd like see Woakes given license to go after the bowling first thing. We need to score as many as possible before the new ball is due. I'll be setting my alarm for 3.30 again.
Woakes is no mug with the bat. 30 from him would be huge as you say. Whatever happens Root needs to go on to three figures. He'll know that though which means he'll be under pressure. From what I saw he seemed to be getting back to his fluent best before the close. If he can play himself in again tomorrow..................................ah ****......it's the hope that kills you!
It is indeed! It would be completely insane for us to win this, a match dominated by two poor captaincy decisions, Root putting them in to bat, and Smith not enforcing the follow on and not bothering to consult his bowlers about it. Starc has already intimated that he was unhappy with that decision, hopefully a bit of unrest in the dressing room. Woakes is very handy with the bat, like Broad used to be before he got hit. Good time for you to get your mojo back Broady.
Hard luck those who got up specially to watch this at 3.30 am, England duly fold inside the first hour, 189-7...
I wake up at 6:45 to witness a great England comeback and it's all over due to the pack falling to bits. Not really very good.
Bugger it.......what a let down. Always a big ask to knock off the remaining runs but to get blown away losing 6 wickets for 50 odd runs is bloody awful........ Haven't won in Perth since 1978, good time to re-write the record books and at least make it interesting going to Melbourne for the boxing day test......
Are you going to Melbourne for Boxing Day? Or just hoping the series stays alive. Any not606er's going let me know - it's traditional to have a few beers on that day
You'll just have to entertain the Barmy Army or what's left of them, they'll win the drinking contest but not much else...
Good start from England at the WACA. Cook gone early again, but Stoneman and Vince going nicely at 89-1, both prepared to use their feet against Lyon.
