I basically fell asleep during the snow game so didn’t make the NFC game. Watched the highlights and looked good

Seahawks to win the whole thing, the Vikings let walk the Super Bowl winning QB for nothing in the most Vikings move going
Vikings tried to re-sign him, made him a very competitive offer.

I thought the main issue is that he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter? Which is kind of understandable when you draft a quarterback in the 1st round, as presumably you intend them becoming the starter at some point. Though with how the season went, Darnold probably would have ended up the starter anyhow.

Good news, but the timing is weird. He was at the senior bowl yesterday talking to players etc

Hopefully we’ll see news of the scouts being binned as well as he obviously wasn’t the only one responsible for the awful drafting in recent times

Reading more about Kwesi and sounds like it was his decision to get McCarthy and not KOC, and then let Darnold go which sealed his fate.

In typical Vikings fashion they are going to wait til after the draft to hire a new GM so will probably **** this draft aswell

Kwesi being blamed for everything now, proper smear job being done on him. Sounds like the relationship behind the scenes was completely broken, and he wasn’t the guy to fix it with lots of things going on behind his back/decisions being made without his input.

I do like that they knew that Cine wasn’t going to be an NFL player after training camp the year they drafted him :emoticon-0102-bigsm

As a nice mouth watering tempter for the upcoming draft, the last time the guy running the draft for the Vikings was in a senior decision making position they drafted Ponder 11th. If you didn’t follow the sport then, Ponder makes McCarthy look like Brady.

Anyone else staying up to watch the Super Bowl? If so who you wanting to win?

Seahawks for me, but prefer it ended a draw and they just don’t give anyone the Lombardi this year

TBF to Ponder, he did make the playoffs once.

I never saw much of Ponder though, Matt Cassell was the QB in my first game against the Steelers then I think he took the starter job that season

You were lucky/unlucky depending how you view it. Yes he happened to be on the field whilst Adrian Peterson carried the team to the playoffs. Possibly the most impressive season in any sport by an individual when you factor in the injury he had like 4 months before

I say you were unlucky in the sense that you may have chosen a different team to follow if you had seen Ponder attempt to play QB

Wasn’t a showstopper of a game, but intriguing nonetheless.

I think the Pats got shown up a touch. Built a team on a strong defence which kept them in many games, and got the rub of the green with facing injury depleted teams through the play offs.

The AFC was far the weaker conference this year in my opinion. I think 3 / 4 NFC teams would have beaten the pats yesterday.

Pats are still a work in progress. New HC, 2nd year QB. They did have a fair bit of luck to get as far as they did, with all the AFC powerhouses underperforming but they are only going to improve. Think the Giants will be team to look out for next year. When they get Nabers and Skattebo back they could be dangerous. Plus they have Harbaugh as HC now. And they have a high draft pick.

I’m not sure. And I may be proven wrong but I don’t think Dart is that good.

I think the Cowboys and Eagles will battle it out for the division. Seahawks will be favourites to make it to the superbowl again.

Super Bowl champion Sam Darnold!

Pleased for him, obviously the defence was the main reason they won but he defied his previous choker tag and went through the playoffs with zero turnovers. He is clearly a competent QB if he’s not asked to do too much. He’s not a Mahomes/Jackson/Allen who can take a game on his back and win, but you can scheme him to success.

I see James Pearce has thrown his career away, gotta love the NFL. He was someone I was high on in last years draft, the character concerns clearly should’ve been more of a red flag to me

Sounds like Cousins could be heading back to Minnesota. Not sure how I'd feel about that TBH. On one hand, he will know KOC's play calls inside out and will get more out of Jefferson than McCarthy. On the other he's 37 and been back up for the best part of 2 years now.

I think it’s been obvious for awhile they will bring in an experienced QB to “compete”.

The owners and fans have made it clear they don’t have the patience/stomach to develop a QB like McCarthy so they are want to go down the Darnold type route of getting a vet who hasn’t done much so far. I think it’s a stupid decision and the best chance you have to win a superbowl is to draft a QB. Not saying McCarthy is that player, but I hope if he fails it doesn’t put them off trying again.

Unfortunately the Vikings are never THAT bad to be in the top 3 for the draft so whatever QB you pick is going to need some development time, after this season it feels like a lot of the fanbase are similar to the Wilfs in just wanting to get to the playoffs and seeing what happens than actually being a real contender

Would add I think the best plan for next season is to go with McCarthy. Worst case scenario is he is terrible and they are in a better position to draft a QB in what’s meant to be a strong QB class (I know this is said every year at this time). Best case is he shows promise/develops into a legitimate good QB.

He’ll probably end up somewhere inbetween with the Vikings missing the playoffs and picking in the mid teens again, meaning being in the same position as now. But with a stronger QB class they might be able to make a move similar to when they got McCarthy and hopefully with a better outcome.
