Beating southampton would put us above wba would it not so would give the team a hell of alot of confidence, whatever the southampton result is the worst we can be is still 1 behind wba best we can be 2 ahead or level on points so surely that is just as crucial game.

No it wouldn't unless they lose to Plymouth. Certainly possible, but at a guess the bookies would say they're far more likely to win and we're far more likely to lose. As things stand we've played the same number of games as them. So no, whatever the Southampton result we are not at worst one behind them. At worst we're four behind them.

We're still in a reasonable position because of the game in hand. We need to make that count. We also need to show a couple of teams a good hiding between now and the end of the season to improve our GD as that could very well be the difference come the final whistle.

I agree Greaves really does need to shift up a gear and score a hat trick.

Without wishing to dampen the cheery Sunday mood…

The Tigers haven’t won at Southampton since 1951. Since then six draws and ten defeats in all comps, 14 scored and 37 conceded!
Well time to change that record….selfishly admit it’s the only away game I’ll be seeing this season. Tried for Huddersfield and Rotherham but didn’t get my arse in gear fast enough.

IF (big if) we manage a win at Southampton, I think it takes the pressure off the West Brom game a bit.

One win out of the 2 would be very good. I’m keeping all my fingers crossed.

I agree 3 points from either of those games would be great even 2 draws would be good.

3rd and 4th look to be gone, but the race for 5th and 6th is going to go down to the wire. We have to be winning games against those in and around us to have any chance. West Brom is a must win, Soton is a "must not lose", IMO.

In terms of affecting my mood or positivity, I think our historical record there is far less relevant than the fact they're a very good side and we don't tend to beat many of those.

We're grinding results out at the moment; winning some very close games. That's a good sign. However, we need to click. We need to play much better against the top six sides than we have done against the relegation fodder.

Time for a few of our January signings to step up. Seri's return will hopefully have a galvanising effect too. A couple of players who've not had a chance recently need to show Liam he was wrong to not include them. (eg. Connolly).

I still think we're a couple of quality squad players short of a playoff side (if Jacob and Docherty are the answer, then the question is pretty desperate), but it looks like the spirit and determination is there, especially in the centre of defence and that can make the difference at the *** end of the season.

Go for it, City.

You make it sound like Connollys not had a chance cos he wasn't good enough not that he's been out injured. But getting him and Seri back will be a big boost and give more options

Fair enough. I really meant that players who haven't started for a while need to grab their chances when they can.

I liked Connolly's reaction at full time yesterday when he came on and gave Greaves a hug - he looked delighted.

Would be good too if it was the Christie of old we got back when he finally returns.
Think i heard he was fit again, or at least back to full training?

Amazing scenes yesterday..long may they continue. Whatever happens Tuesday night it’s obvious momentum is growing now throughout the City and beyond and without getting too carried away there really is no reason why we cannot be involved in battling for a play off spot. Might need a bit of luck here and there of course but belief is growing with every game now and when that happens teams suddenly find another gear.. The old saying of one game at a time seems the right one at the moment and I’d wager Rosenior feels he may yet be in with a big shout to deliver what the big Turk and thousands more craves.

Hold on tight…

UTT.

Still think WBA is a must win to provide a bit of room between us and 7th. Last nights win did us now harm in achieving that.

Next 6....

Home - West Brom
Away - Preston
Home - Birmingham
Home - Leicester
Away - Coventry
Home - Stoke

Personally, I think somewhere between 8-11 is do-able. The latter being really good.

We need around 8-9 points from those five games (Coventry will very likely be postponed). Don't care which games we get them in, though denying WBA three points would be beneficial.

I know it's an obvious statement to make, but after those 6, if we have taken 10+ then I'd say the playoffs are more then likely imo. The confidence it would breed would hopefully see us over the line. Anything less then 10 then I think it becomes a "next season" task
