Without putting it too mildly I think the season ultimately rests on the result against WBA. Regardless of other teams playing each other, I think that game will go a long way, if not the whole way, to determining the shape of our season.

Why? or why not the Southampton game or even the Preston and Leicester or Birmingham games why does the season Ultimately rest on WBA game, even if we lose that game we could win the next 4 out of 5 again and still the other teams play each other and drop points even if you do say regardless of the other teams games against each other.

Because beating WBA not only denies them 3 points it gives us 3 points. Literally a 6 pointer. Yes we could hypothetically win every other game for the rest of the season and just lose that one and be fine, but odds of probability suggest that's not going to be the case.

Coventry game could be reasonably similar in importance, but I'd put more weight on the WBA game, particularly given their soft run in.

It does not determine our whole season at all it helps if we win but every game we play in the next say 6 out of 7 is potentially as important it does not determine our whole season at all, wba could win that one and lose next 3 or draw 2 and lose one.

"It will go a long way".

Let's see how things look come season's end, I'm just offering my perspective on the importance of that game. You can dismiss it if you want. I hope Rosenior doesn't think like you do.

Oh you think he should think like you? if we lose this game it will determine our whole season i really hope he does not think like you to.

I think he should think that every game is a must win, yes. I'd much rather that than "Oh well we're fine to lose this because there's a chance everyone around us will lose a bunch of games".

For what it's worth after your "Well if we beat Huddersfield we could be 3+ points clear of everyone around us" only Preston dropped points (I think I suggested they were most likely?). That wishful thinking didn't pan out too well.

S/land dropped points to.

No we all think or hope he thinks we should win every game but you said the whole season on this game.

Again, I said 'it will go a long way' that's not the same thing as saying the season lives or dies on that game. I just think it's just about the most significant game of the season. Reminds me of Villa under Adkins where a win would have put us in the 6 and we were 2-0 up but ended up drawing 2-2 and fell away from that point. You disagree. That's absolutely fine.

Once again, they weren't level on points with us, so weren't part of the 'group on 48' being discussed. There was 4 teams. There's now still 3 level on 51.

No you said if not the whole way meaning if we lost this we are ****ed that is what your post implied.

I've explained why I think the WBA game matters so much, you've explained why you think it doesn't matter. Best we leave it there.

Between the Leicester game on 9 March and the Stoke game on Good Friday, City are very likely to have three weeks without a match. That’s the pivotal period of what remains of the season - how Rosenior uses that time will be crucial in determining our fortunes, not a randomly chosen match against a rival.

What's random about it? I explained why I saw it as quite important, not sure that constitutes 'random selection'.

It constitutes Random because you signalled the wba game as one that will determine which way our season will go when in theory every game from now till may is just as important as that game, you could say southampton is more important if we go there and get thumped 4 or 5 nil that would have a serious effect as any wba could give.

I've already explained the concept of a 6-pointer, I didn't think it was such a foreign concept! If we beat WBA we not only gain 3 points on them we deny them 3 points. That's a 6 point swing in our favour. If we lose to Soton we don't have a similar impact to our position as we are not competing with Soton for their place in the table.

As a side note, no game between Mar 10 and Mar 30 would be excellent as my kid will arrive sometime in that space.

Without wishing to dampen the cheery Sunday mood…

The Tigers haven’t won at Southampton since 1951. Since then six draws and ten defeats in all comps, 14 scored and 37 conceded!

We hadn't done the double over Rotherham since the 80s I think I saw, and no win at Hudd since 2013. Hopefully we're in the mood to keep breaking records!

Beating southampton would put us above wba would it not so would give the team a hell of alot of confidence, whatever the southampton result is the worst we can be is still 1 behind wba best we can be 2 ahead or level on points so surely that is just as crucial game.
