They look quite cool imo. Better dressed than most northerners anyway.

I think you're missing the point. He's wasn't asked 'Is it Anti-Semitic' and then denied it. He wrote about the mural when he painted it and said that it represented 'greedy old European and American men abusing their power'. The Anti Semite accusations came after. You can't accuse the artist of an agenda because you have read something into their work.
Two of the banking families in the mural are Jewish, two are not. So that says to me that the message is more about commenting on the banking cartel rather than any ethnic message.
Maybe it's a question of interpretation, and the mayor of Newham, recognising this, had it taken down to avoid causing offence.
Personally, I can see how that mural could be interpreted at anti-semitic. I can equally see how to others, it may not look that way at all. It's in the eye of the beholder.
Also, it's a bit ****. Perhaps they took it down for that reason.

You ever noticed all the cables between the houses around stoke newington and Stamford hill. Apparently it is to overcome them not being allowed out the house on Sunday, so they connect areas and houses to allow them to move about.

What gets my goat is that symbolism has been used throughout centuries or words but 1 bad incident and the whole lot gets sanctioned and censored out.
There's nothing blatantly obvious about that picture that suggests it's anti Jew (although if it was and he admitted it then he's a ****).
Although I do think corbs is quite anti Semitics (the picture painted but he is smart about it)

I used to live in Stoke Newington (Stoke Jewington). Didn't mind having them lot as neighbours, I found them endlessly fascinating. And law abiding. I like the white socks they wear for high days and holidays. And all the birds wear syrups, **** knows what that's all about.

If that’s not his intention, and I’ve heard no word from the artist one way or another, then perhaps he should have portrayed the old men with slightly less hooked noses to start with

Israel has extensive form for trying to lump any form of political criticism of the actions of their state as anti Semiticism

But isn't that just a physical representation of the men in the mural ? They are based on actual characters so naturally would have those physical attributes. Yes it's caricatured, but most visual political comment is (Gerald Scarfe, Spitting image etc)
What is essentially being argued here is that you can't portray any images of Jews in case it offends, in a similar way that you can't portray any images of Muhammed in case it offends.
Or you can't portray any images of rich greedy bankers in a caricature because some of them might happen to be Jewish. Sorry but to me that's using the anti-semite card when it's unwarranted. The mural is a political comment on the banking cartel, it's not a sleight on Judaism.

As a person in public office he would have had a duty to take it down if people started complaining. That doesn't mean it is Anti-Semitic, nor does it mean that he thought it was Anti-semitic.

I cannot believe for one minute that the artist was totally unaware of the connotations of his work. That he was so naive that he couldn’t see how it may well be viewed.
Whether intentional or not, it has clear anti Semitic connotations. Clear enough for the work to be denounced and removed.

Probably right. Does that mean that nobody can portray somebody who happens to be Jewish in an unfavourable light, even if they are doing something that millions of people agree is unfavourable ? i.e running a banking cartel.
Should these people be immune from criticism simply because they are Jewish ?

I don't believe for a moment that Corbyn is even remotely anti-semitic. Everything about his record shows that he has always been an outspoken opponent of racism in all it's forms. I'm ambivalent about the mural, but one thing I am certain of is that we are witnessing yet another anti-Corbyn hatchet job from an increasingly desperate right wing press.

And you’re deflecting. The work has clear connotations that he must have been aware. That and the venue he chose.
