"They (Tottenham Hotspurs) have fallen short of their capabilities and the fans' expectations given the players we have. I can't say that's the manager's fault.... I have always had a special place in my heart for Spurs, if the position becomes available I would be interested." Sherwood's latest comments come a week after he criticised Mauricio Pochettino for having sufficient resources to battle for the league title. “I wouldn’t agree with ‘limited resources’. It’s obviously not the same as Man City’s resources, but who has that? He’s signed 20 players and spent almost £300million, including the club-record signing of Davinson Sanchez from Ajax for £36million, since he’s been at the club, so they’ve given him an opportunity to build a squad and he’s happy with the squad he’s got...... It’s fine margins and if they finish outside the top four, you have to say it’s been a bad season.”
What’s wrong with what he said? He’s had money but not quite enough to challenge or something like that....it’s his fault and it not his fault...I’d agree with that. He could have managed some situations and games better however in the grand scheme of things he’s doing fine as this squad is where it seemingly belongs. We are about right for the quality of our squad...top 4 and latter stages of Cups. I’m not saying I’m happy with that I’m saying as a Spurs fan that is about as good as this squad will get from what I see.
He may be angling to come back. The last sentence is putting pressure on little Poch's tenure if you don't make top 4 and he's putting his name in the hat. Could he do better with this squad? I hear his experience at Swindon would make him more suited to Spurs.
Not saying Spurs are like Swindon Town, but maybe Sherwood's experience there would bode well for Spurs now, it might be just what you need
