didn;t they have different cars though? I'm pretty sure one of them was trying out a raft of upgrades (Alonso I think)

no, I fully expect him to start well and by 1/3rd distance start to drop further and further back.

He is improving (or is it the car?) but I'd like to see a few more races before I change my mind; one swallow doesn't make a summer.

I'm far from the most pro-Perez person on this board. He's a very good driver who is unquestionably having a better season than the people he is competing with for a future top seat. But while I think he is currently on top in the mini-league of up and coming drivers such as Rosberg, Kobayashi and Di Resta, I still think he is in that league. In the same way that while Vettel was utterly dominant last season, over a longer period of time we see that he is in the same league as Hamilton and Alonso, albeit just about on top.

Still, you've got to laugh at Di Montezemolo's comments about Perez. The implication of the "too inexperienced" comment is that Felipe Massa's experience is serving Ferrari well (and that Luca Badoer and Giancarlo Fisichella's experience served them well in his absence).

A good start, could have been up there with Perez and Schumacher...and then he ****ed it up. To his credit his pace after the accident was good, but it's not the first time he's made basic mistakes. Not good enough for a Ferrari driver.

I think Kamui proved today he's worth a punt, Ferrari don't need a driver with a large sponsorship package, so it works in Kamui's favour.

If it wasn't for Massa chucking all that debri up Alonso might of been taken by Seb or Lewis at the end, I'm sure he would of lost the lead if Lewis didn't get that puncture or Seb getting slowed up by Lewis.

I think Massa saved Alonso's race and he didn't even know it lol.

With three good races, I think Massa has done enough to keep his seat for next year.

I thought he was excellent today, luck played a part, but you still have to take advantage, and he did. That move on Senna was sensational.

A good recovery drive from Massa today and some good overtakes. However, to play devil's advocate, he also failed to get through Q2 (again) and would almost certainly have finished a lot lower if not for the safety car.

While his podium count sits at 0 and his teammate leads the championship there is no way he should keep his seat. That said a decent (if fortunate with the saftey cars) drive today

I was pleased for Massa today.

As others have said, his weekend was once again inconsistent; but that was a spirited bit of race driving today. Well done to him.

I don't think his last two races have been that good to be honest. He was lauded for qualifying 2nd in Monza but Alonso said it would've been his easiest pole of the season, so presumably Massa would've been his usual half second behind if Alonso's car didn't fall apart. Today he was brilliant after the safety cars, but before that he'd been poor again. Even in Spa he was 6/10ths off Alonso.

He's still not good enough in my opinion.

Apparently the .gif was not as self-explanatory as I thought <whistle>

I agree with you, sort of want to object but when you think about it you realise that yeah, actually, he's been better than usual but still not immense.

As I've pointed out previously, before the summer break, Alonso put the Ferrari on pole, and won. Massa put it 14th, and subsequently finished outside of the points.
