No idea why your being so negative... Just because it looks like Silva isnt staying your expecting the absolute worst for next season? We've absolutely no idea what our objective is for next season but im sure most of us expect nothing but a promotion push. We'll have one of the strongest teams in the league and hopefully (its still ****ing May) we'll have a decent manager and money to spend. Silva or no Silva, it makes absolutely no sense, financially or otherwise to aim to stay in championship next season. On a positive note, im pretty sure the Allams will look for another Marco. They've pretty much said as much with the few statements they've made this year. Turning to a McClaren, Warnock, Rosler etc would be a step backwards and Ehab knows this. Im expecting someone completely left field to be appointed.
Because if you ignore, for a second, the name change, concessions and a few other awful moves by our owners, they've done very well for us. stability, 2 promotions, 2 of the best managers we've ever had, wembley, cup finals, europe, international players. It's not ALL bad... so yeah, there is definitely plenty to be optimistic about next season.
They know nothing about football. They got all the above thanks to Steve Bruce (who was recommended to them)- but Ehab got rid of the goose that laid the golden egg by getting rid of him. They were then clueless about what to do- hence our relegation. Silva was the easy option for them, with all those loans and 6 months contracts. They're secretly chuffed.
If we can't get either a Wagner (dependent on Hudds) or Jakanovic then why not someone like Alexander. On reflection maybe we should have gone with Rowett as he would have likely stayed and managed us in the Championship. That is not a criticism of Silva, though the last 3 games where bizarre in the extreme.
We need a manager who can build on the positive attacking style of football Silva managed to instil in the squad. But he will also need to add defensive steel in much the same way as Fat Sam did at Palace. However above all else we need someone who will finally recognise that this club is absolutely crying out for at least one real, instinctive, goal scoring striker. Not a Henandez or a Niasse or a Diomande or an M'Bokani or an Akpom or an Aluko or a Sagbo or a Jelavic or an N'Doye. We need the next Charlie Austin or Andre Gray and until we get that player(s) we will always be PL relegation fodder at best (and god knows what at worst).
That wouldn't be the same Hernandez who bagged 22 goals in the Championship would it? He'll be gone anyway, much better than the Championship. The last consistent striker we had before Abel was Matty Fryatt. If it were up to me I'd get Nahki Wells in (if Huddersfield don't go up), he'll cost a bomb but you know he'll score goals, or Tom Bradshaw from Barnsley, or Lee Gregory from Millwall. But you just know it will be Daryl Murphy on a free. The next Jamie Vardy is Danny Rowe at AFC Fylde.
Hernandez scored goals for one season in the Championship but in the PL he is poor. He isn't an instinctive goal scorer like Austin or Gray.
He looks as old as he is though, if he does the job and scores the goals to take us up he wouldn't be a bad shout.
