Saturday 27th August 2011:

Emiliano Insua has completed a transfer away from Liverpool to Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon. The Argentine has signed a 5 year deal with the club.

(I admit I am a bit dissapointed)

Kenny Dalglish believes Luis Suarez's Copa America success is behind the striker's explosive and confident start to the new campaign.

Liverpool today play Bolton Wanderers in their third game of the Premier League season, at Anfield, kick off at 5:30.

So far Liverpool have had a win and a draw in the league, as well as a win in the cup.

Bolton have had a win and a defeat in the league, as well as a win in the cup.

Liverpool will be with out Raul Meireles after he picked up an injury against Exeter on Wednesday.
 
Continued:

Liverpool will play Brighton in the Carling Cup. I have predicted Brighton will be a Premier League team with in the next 10 years (but actually think next 5 years), so this will be an interesting game.

The game will be played the week starting 19th September.

Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam both scored their first goals for Liverpool as the team moved to the top of the league on goal difference.

Pepe Reina was disappointed not to keep the clean sheet.

Kenny Dalglish praised the team effort in today's game.

He told his post-match press conference: "We're delighted. I thought we played really well, passed and moved and I think we thoroughly deserved the victory. Everybody who came along to watch will have been very well entertained by the performance of the players.

"It's always nice to score your first goal at Anfield - and even nicer when you come off with a victory as well. Both Jordan and Charlie will get a lot of satisfaction from their goals, but they'll get more satisfaction from the victory.

"Stewart Downing played brilliantly, but he never scored. Wee Luis was named man of the match on the television, but never scored either. But the way they played was fantastic.

"That's the most important thing for us. There are going to be various people who grab the headlines this season, but for us it's a team effort and I think they realise that."

Roy Hodgson was in charge and the public voted with their feet as just 35,400 turned up - their lowest Premier League attendance for almost seven years and almost 10,000 below capacity.

Monday 29th August 2011:

Martin Skrtel believes Liverpool now have a squad strong enough to compete at the top end of the Premier League, and that they now have a squad where any player is capable of playing any game.

"For this season we signed a few new players and we have a really strong squad now," the Slovakian told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"It doesn't matter who is playing now. We have maybe 22 players and everyone can play in a game. That's very good and we can compare to the best teams in the Premier League.

"I can say we are playing in one of the best periods since I came to the club.

"We had a target at the start of the season. Now we'll just try to win every single game, get as many points as possible and qualify for the Champions League."

Daniel Agger (the one who refused to play Roy Hodgson's style) has said that the players are really loving the new style of play, with Kenny's pass and move philosophy proving very popular.

He feels he fits into this system very well (I agree).

Stewart Downing has said LFC is even bigger than he thought and said he is surprised by how big our fan base is. (its big because we're great ;) )

"Everywhere we go there seems to be a lot of fans," he told Liverpoolfc.tv. "No disrespect, but I didn't have that at other clubs''.

Joe Cole is close to agreeing a season long loan deal with French club Lille. (Didnt see that coming).

Liverpool have rejected a proposed player swap with Chelsea involving midfielder Raul Meireles and Yossi Benayoun.

It was the player, plus £8million for Raul.

I'd like at least £20mill tbh.

Liverpool have agreed a deal for the transfer of Christian Poulson to French club Evian.

Luis Suarez has announced the transfer of Sebastian Coates to Liverpool. But an official announcement is yet to be made.
 
Wednesday 31st August 2011:

Liverpool last night completed the signing of giant Uruguay defender Sebastian Coates from Nacional.

20 year old Coates will wear the number 16 shirt.

He is Dalglish's 6th signing of the summer.

He claims Luis Suarez played a key part in his decision.

"Luis told me a lot about Liverpool - but about the fans more than anything else," said Coates, in an exclusive interview with Liverpoolfc.tv. "He told me how passionate they are about the club and how supportive they are.

"I saw that myself on Saturday when the fans really got behind their side against Bolton and that was great to see''.

Joe Cole has agreed to join French club Lille on a season long loan. He will now join the French club for the rest of the season.
 
Hi guys. I stopped updating yesterday due to the server struggling, and most people being in the transfer thread any way.

So I will just do a quick review. I wont put details as its written in many other places on this forum already.

Raul Meireles submitted a written transfer request yesterday evening before the clubs agreed a fee for his transfer.

Thursday 1st September 2011:

Craig Bellamy says it is the manager who he grew up idolising, Kenny Dalglish, who convinced him to rejoin Liverpool yesterday.

He told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I've grown up with Kenny Dalglish, now to be signed by him is a massive honour.

"This is an exciting time. When Kenny took over, watching as a fan last season I got the buzz as well and it was great to see Liverpool end the season well'.

Jordan Henderson scored as he captained the England under 21s to a 6-0 victory over Azerbaijan in a Euro qualifier last night (Henderson's second goal this week).
John Flanagan impressed on his under 21s debut as he played 90 minutes.
Jonjo Shelvey also looked sharp after he came on as a 79th minute substitute.
Andre Wisdom was an unused substitute.

Steve Clarke feels Sebastian Coates is already ready to be called on for his LFC debut.

The first-team coach told Liverpoolfc.tv: "He's a talented youngster and gives us different options at the back.

"We look to sign young players that can improve and we looked at his performances throughout the Copa America when he was named Young Player of the Tournament. It's certainly exciting.

Carragher hopes Liverpool will benefit from Bellamy having unfinished business with the club.

Stewart Downing believes Liverpool's expensive rebuilding programme has now put them firmly in the Premier League's title-chasing pack.#

He said: "We've certainly got the quality to challenge. It's going to be difficult because Manchester City have strengthened and have got a hell of a squad while Manchester Utd have started really well

"We've got a hell of a chance of doing it but we have got to pick up points and stay in and around that pack to have a chance of doing that."

Steve Gerrard is nearing a return to football and has set a target of September 18th in the game against Tottenham. Gerrard says he feels fitter than ever.

He said on Liverpool's official website: "I feel really good and I'm back kicking balls again - it's all positive. I should be back in full training on Thursday or Friday."

Gerrard added: "I won't be involved against Stoke next Saturday but my plan is to hopefully be involved in the game against Tottenham. It will be Kenny's decision when I come back in.

"At the moment it's all good and I'm itching to get back. In fact it's worse than itching, my stomach is turning.

"It's been a tough five months for me since I had the surgery. It's been up and down emotionally and I've missed playing so much.

"I've had a good rest, I'm fired up and I'm raring to go again. I know I'm going to come back fitter, stronger and hungrier than ever."

"My groin is tested when I'm working and the physios collect data. My groin scores now are better than before I even started feeling my groin.''

Sunday 4th September 2011:

Alan Hansen has heaped praise on Liverpool's new signings and say they have played a big part in Liverpool's impressive start to the season.

Hansen told this week's LFC Magazine: "Against Bolton it was wave after wave of attack and what helps this is the passing ability of all the players. The football was tight and quick and all of the new signings have contributed towards this improvement.

"Charlie Adam is the obvious playmaker in midfield, but all of the other new boys can pass too.

"Stewart Downing has surprised me. I knew he was a good winger but I didn't realise how comfortable he was in possession. He makes the game look easy and that is the mark of a top player.'

Jamie Carragher says the players are very excited at the speed that Liverpool are improving.
 
Tuesday 6th September 2011:

LFC legend and fn favourite Robbie Fowler has signed for Thailand Pemier League side Muang Thong United.

"I just love playing," says Fowler, 36, sitting barefoot in his yellow training kit at the back of the main stand of the Yamaha Stadium on the outskirts of Bangkok.

"I've always loved the game, regardless of where I've been. And it's the same here in Thailand - I thought: Why not give it a shot? The kids will enjoy it when they come over here, and I certainly will."

"I'm seeing new things in my life other than football, which I might never have seen."

Fabio Capello has again critisized Andy Carroll, saying he needs to drink less and change his life style if he wants to reach his full potential.

The Liverpool striker was pictured in the summer partying on holiday in Barbados and Capello added: "I don't know anything about his lifestyle. It is a private problem that I never spoke about.

"But if he wants to be a good player and a good sportsman, he needs to drink less than the others."

(I personally think its up to his club manager to make calls like that, not Capello (plus he was on Holiday!!!!)).

But John Terry has defended our England striker.

"He's a young player at a very big club with a really good future," said Terry. "He's still got to enjoy his time away from football and I'm sure he will.

"Andy is a really good pro on the pitch and a good guy to have around the camp. I've been there. I've made my mistakes as well, maybe drunk a little bit too much when I was younger and gone out a little bit too much.

"But I think having gone through that, when you hit 26 or 27 you think, 'I'm glad I did that then because I don't want to do it now'."

Kenny Dalglish today praised Stuart Pearce for allowing Jordan Henderson a free week to prepare for Liverpool's fixture at Stoke on Saturday.

Damien Camolli is working on a partnership with South American side Nacional after building a good friendship during the Sebastian Coates transfer.

Suarez and Coates both came through the Nacional youth academy, as well as many other quality players.

This partnership could help Liverpool find many more top young players, whilst raising the profile of Nacional.
 
Thursday 8th September 2011:

Kenny Dalglish has revealed he has no fresh injury worries ahead of Liverpool's trip to Stoke City this weekend as he confirmed Steven Gerrard continues to make good progress in his recovery.

Liverpool's youngsters cruised to a 4-0 victory over Norwegian outfit Molde in their second match of the NextGen Series last night.

Chelsea new-boy Raul Meireles insists he never wanted to leave Liverpool but says the chance to work with Andre Villas-Boas was too good to turn down.

"I knew that I didn't want to leave Liverpool," he told chelseafc.co.uk.

"[But] when I knew that Chelsea and Andre wanted me, it convinced me. It is only because he wanted me."
