I'm watching it at 6pm. I'll offer my thoughts soon after.
See ya.
It was okay but probably Scorcese's worst film for me.
Of course , if you compare it to them ...The Departed wasn't terrible - until you remember it was directed by the guy who did Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Casino, and Goodfellas. Compared to all of them, it's weak.
Departed tried to be too clever, over acting by Nicholson too
The Departed was a great film.Worse than The Departed?
The departed was class, the Irishman is a stain on humanity, sycophantic reviews for the untouchables
De Niro kicking that shop keeper was just embarrassing and summed up the film, all guys 30 years too old for the parts. An absolute disaster and not shocked to hear no one was interested bar Netflix.
PishHe could have used younger actors. But I expect he wanted to use old bastards like himself, who know they are in death’s waiting room, because that’s pretty much what the film is all about - Marty’s reflections on the inevitability of death.
First reaction, I liked it a lot. De Niro probably is too old but he was still superb, Pacino is definitely too old and he hammed it up a bit but who gives a ****, have some ****ing respect for a pair of legends. Or are you the sort of punk who turns up to a meeting in shorts?
The scene in the coffin warehouse was ****ing genius btw.
“See anything you like?”
“Huh. Ah, the green one..”
Brilliant
Pish
What colour?I’ll send someone round to paint your house, you motherfucking bum...
