I'll keep this first post updated through the season. Ondrej Mazuch - Hamstring - will miss the start of pre-season. Angus MacDonald - Shoulder - Out until early August. Moses Odubajo - Hamstring - Back in training. James Weir - Knee Injury - Likely to be out for the rest of the season. Ryan Mason - Skull fracture - Retired.
Leonid Slutsky has labelled Ryan Mason “a hero” as the sidelined midfielder edges closer towards a potential comeback with Hull City . Mason has been out of action since he suffered a fractured skull in January, an injury that left him feeling “lucky to be alive” after emergency surgery. A careful rehabilitation programme has gradually ushered the 26-year-old back into the City fold but he is still waiting on a green light to resume contact training. Specialist tests are scheduled in the next week to map out the next stages of Mason’s recovery but Slutsky has praised the England international’s attitude. “He’s had his first test and everything was good,” said Slutsky. “I have my fingers crossed every day about his health because for me this guy is a hero. “Next he will have more tests and we will know the results soon. There is only one word from me about Mason and that is hero.” Mason has made it clear he wants to resume his playing career this season but City’s medical team continue to take a cautious approach in the wake of an operation that left the midfielder with 14 metal plates on the right side of his skull. After returning to light training in the final weeks of last season Mason joined his team-mates on the pre-season camp in Portugal, where he took part in a number of fitness-based sessions. There is still no timescale on any proposed comeback but Mason will hope for positive news when undergoing his latest set of tests. Of more immediate concern to Slutsky is the fitness of Kevin Stewart after City’s £4m signing was made to wait for his debut at the weekend. A minor ankle injury left the midfielder unable to train fully during the build-up to City’s 1-1 draw with Villa and it was decided that no risks would be taken during a busy opening month. Stewart is expected to be ready for the visit of Burton Albion on Saturday, the first of five games inside a fortnight. “It’s not serious and he will be ready for our next match,” said Slutsky. City’s head coach will also consider David Meyler for a start in the first home game of the season. The Irishman now has 10 days of full training under his belt following knee surgery in April and played the final quarter of Saturday’s opener at Villa as a second-half substitute. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ryan-mason-hero-says-hull-298592
Good stuff OLM, be nice to see Meyler and Stewart back in the reckoning for a start, think that`s what we missed on Saturday, a little bite in the midfield area.
Evando, how longs his contract, as it seems he's going to spend most of it in the treatment room, ( am i being unfair he always seems to be injured.)
No mention of Campbell??? Was it just a precaution that he was subbed on Saturday or is there a hamstring problem. We need his pace up front.
When they say mason has 14 plates inserted what sort of sizes are we talking? are these things tiny? Just can't imagine what these things Look like?
