There are bound to be sales but many more performances like Saturday and there won't be too many offers. Graham, Buckley, and Eustace ought to command decent transfer fees, though not astronomical in these hard times, but Loach, at one time expected to fetch millions, can't be attracting many scouts at the moment.

I do think with several games still to go I shall try and avoid agonising about next season already. I intend to bury my head in the sand for the summer and try and think of things like holidays, barbeques and...cricket maybe? Hard though, isn't it?

When it was rumoured that teams like Spurs were scouting Loach, and maybe prepared to offer a couple of million for him, the general fan reaction was "stay here Scottie and learn your trade by playing competitive games..." --the implication being that an experienced, improved Loach would be worth even more in transfer fees this year or next. But in truth his development seems to have gone backwards. He is more error prone than ever, he seems more nervous in those situations where he has to come out for the ball with an attacker running at him, communication with defenders is still poor, even after a season of working with an established back line. Does he need to move on for his sake as well as our financial gain? Does he need new coaches and more competition for a place in the team? If he is still here and performing at this level next season, then we will begin to say his potential is behind him and we will be looking to replace him anyway. Time to cash in, if in fact there is anything to cash. A good U-21 tournament could make a difference though.

I think Loach should be rested and give Gilmartin a little run, it makes no difference really in the long run. I know Gilmartin messed up for the Brighton goal but look at the many mistakes SL has made over the season!
I hope we can turn round this mini slump round on Tuesday, put Norwich in their place!

Come on Watford!

I was very disappointed with the outcome yesterday although I did see a goal. I thought the Watford team played well with no luck at all and what was Scott Loach doing. As one of two players on a football field allowed to hold the ball why did he not. Brad Gazan did.
The one thing I noticed about the team in general were the passes which never ended in the right place. Either too soft or strong or went to the Hull City team.
