Whitburn are struggling quite badly. I play there quite a bit. It's not a bad track but I'd get bored being there all the time.
My mates dad is captain next year
Might try Shields then, seems a few clubs are struggling.

How much is everyone paying for membership. Ours at castle Eden have stopped the same for next year and will be £680 which is very good valve for me as I play 5 times a week over the summer and 2 times over the winter.

lucky bastard. once a week and an evening down the range if i'm lucky, but at least that is the year round. Paying £2,000 a year for the privilege.

Played Saturday morning in that pissing down rain at South Shields, greens started to get the odd puddle as we were getting to the last few holes.

soaked to the skin but a good laugh and managed to score 30 points which wasn’t too bad considering the weather.

Well at least one fan on here is not just a fairweather golfer...or?

I play golf in any weather mate, skin is waterproof and there’s always a nice pint to look forward to after.

When I was working I never missed a Saturday comp.... now I am retired, I pick and choose, although others still go out come what may. By and large our club never closes as such, but there may be no buggies or trollies and pick and place anywhere if very wet, like now. If greens flooded give up perhaps, or if bunkers flooded drop behind. Okay it is not competition golf as such, but at least you are out hitting a golf ball with your mates, looking forward to a cup of tea and bacon buttie.

I'm gonna try and play this weekend. Sunday was a mud bath, so ****ed the idea off.

It needs to stop raining like, and a bit colder/fresher would be nice.

I hate this damp, mild, muggy, **** winter weather

You’ll get quite a lot of visitors with that approach. I’m sure we could open more often if just closed an odd hole but club seem reluctant to do that. Usually manage to open for the seniors mind - probably to stop the old bs moaning :emoticon-0105-wink:.

Just got in.

Should have known that a Liquor association golf day would be a big one. Drink stations at every 2nd hole, 2 carts with kegs driving around just in case you forgot to pick up another beer at a drinks station.

Oysters and beer after the round followed by a lovely fillet steak and accompaniments with more red and white than you could imagine for 100 players.

Prizes on offer were Asahi beer, wine packs, vodka and a couple of nights away at a golf resort.

I'm gonna nned to sleep this off for a week.

It was brilliant. I found out that it wasn't actually a corporate day in the true sense of the word but a social golf club event.

They do this 15 times a year at premier courses and as they're all hotelliers the liquor companies are lining up to sponsor them.

Royal Adelaide in particular charges between $250 and $300 per round for visitors.

All of the above the social club gets for $150 per person.

Meanwhile in the NE the wind howls, the rain pours and snow is forecast for Thursday!
