Nobody is handing out plaudits. What is being suggested is that there are encouraging signs after 3 games. Can't see how anyone can argue this, you being the exception of course. Nobody is getting carried away, but irrespective of the opposition and the fact that we have only played friendlies thus far, it is good seeing us scoring plenty of goals and not conceding, especially bearing in mind how last season ended .
We also have to take into account that we will not be playing Premier league teams so the standard will not be anywhere near as difficult to play against. For example Man City our last opponents spent over £1.5 billion on transfers in the last 10 years and over £200m last season just on their defense. No matter what Farke asks his players to do or how he sets them up we were massive underdogs in ALL of our games last season. We were all disappointed in the way we capitulated after the restart but we have brought in 10 new players for this season and it would only be fair to give them a fresh start and clean slate. We need at least one Premier league quality centre back and perhaps a replacement for McGovern but unless we sell all our best players we are in a healthy position squad wise . No point in harping on about poor old Drmic or Leitner he has obviously frozen himself out and we are recruiting young International players that want to prove themselves here and have many years ahead of them. I'm quite excited about this season dispite not being able to go to matches . All clubs are in the same position now so no excuses it is what it is.
So far this summer, we're the Manchester City, oddly enough. Of known transfer fees, the entire league has only spent £13.5m. NCFC contribute £6.5m of that.
I think that's based on around £3m on Hugill, £2.7m on Placheta, £0.3m on Mumba, and with the rest being free/undisclosed. I'd be surprised if we've spent less than £10m. Just looking at declared fees so far: Barnsley: £750k Birmingham: 0 Blackburn: £450k Bournemoth: 0 Brentford: £1m Bristol: 0 Cardiff: £2m Coventry: £1.35m Derby: 0 Huddersfield: 0 Luton: 0 Boro: 0 Millwall: 0 Forest: 0 PNE: 0 QPR: £2m Reading: 0 Rotherham: 0 Wednesday: 0 Swansea: £800k Stoke: 0 Watford: 0 Wycombe: 0 Several free transfers, most clubs have had some activity, but not a lot of fees paid, there's very few unknowns on this page: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/transfers/wettbewerb/GB2
Back in the UK, there's a local derby for our U23s. Sitti and Dennis appear, which probably says a lot about where they're seen for next season.
