Well, today's result should have cheered you up a bit, beating us 1-3 for our first loss of the season - though it was a close thing 2nd half.[...]reality turns you into a bitter and twisted cynic like me. [...]
Have you read about the Indonesian goalkeeper who collided with his teammate, and was taken off the pitch.? The match played on and his team won 2-0. But the keeper, who had played 500 games for his one and only club, was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. And fans have met at a candle lit vigil to honour him. I think that's really sad, because he was quite a hero. Imagine if one of our players had died. We'd be traumatised: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41630244

Also, watching a hard fought Southampton - Portsmouth derby totally unsegregated is an experience in itself: a lot of your fans turned up today, but both sets of fans mixed & behaved. Almost as if football fans can behave like human beings!
Yay. I take it was Southampton Women rather than Southampton Saints? I used to follow Pompey Ladies on Twitter, but I stopped after I was on the receiving end of a coup d'etat while working for them.
And I'd imagine anyone who goes to a women's game, especially at that level (i.e. non WSL1) is more of a fan of football in general, and thus less likely to include the neanderthal element of either Portsmouth or Southampton.
I might be a Portsmouth fan but one thing you can guarantee is that I'll always support you against Man $ity. Come on the Saints on November 29th!
