After running away from a vote on the issue? That strikes me as an attempt to make positive press out of the fact he betrayed his constituents in order to save his ministerial position.Boris has threatened to lay down in front of the diggers to stop the 3rd runway at Heathrow.
We can only hope
A question for a few of you knowledgeable folk. I got into a bit of a Wiki hole, of finding out why towns and cities were named. Mostly, by Vikings, and it's really interesting why the name came, it's usually 2 words pushed together to describe the Vikings first impressions. Which I think is fascinating.
I've tried to look into the history of Norwich, and why the name happened. I can't find anything about it. Does anyone know? I know we were the second major city after London. Don't know how the name came about and why. Anyone know about it?

Thank you Dave! The capital of the Iceni tribe was a settlement located near to the village of Caistor St. Edmund on the River Tas approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) to the south of modern-day Norwich.[8] Following an uprising led by Boudica around AD 60 the Caistor area became the Roman capital of East Anglia named Venta Icenorum, literally "the marketplace of the Iceni".[8] The Roman settlement fell into disuse around 450 and the Anglo-Saxons settled on the site of the modern city between the 5th and 7th centuries,[9] founding the towns of Northwic (from which Norwich gets its name),[10]Westwic (at Norwich-over-the-Water) and the secondary settlement at Thorpe. According to a local rhyme, the demise of Venta Icenorum led to the development of Norwich: "Caistor was a city when Norwich was none, Norwich was built of Caistor stone."[8]
I coopied and pasted this last night and didn't hit the send button!![]()
Found an interesting little website. Which concurs with what you and Dave said.FML - If you contact the Tourist Information office, they can advise when a guide is organising a tour which will explain it all.
Love that show, and loved Buxtons little video.Really enjoyed the final episode of 'The Bridge' a cracking series.
Loved the theme tune, but couldn't make out the lyrics. It's in English, but undecipherable. Luckily, Adam Buxton has put out subtitles to finally make it clear. Thanks Adam:

Is that the final ever series and episode you are talking about? Because I haven't watched that yet, been saving it as I don't want it to end.

Good news from Thailand,as the 12 boys in underground cave are found safe.
Puts World Cup into perspective.
That's brilliant. I really didn't think they had a chance.
They're saying that they might not be able to get them out for months though. They need to teach them all to dive properly in order to make it out through all of the water. Imagine that, woohoo we're saved......4 more months stuck in this cave you say! Arrrggg, I imagine it must be like waiting for our board to sack managers!
Bah!
