Ex City player Martin Waghorn scored a hat trick for Rangers V Morton today. Thought it worth a mention.

Both are now playing at the right level ... neither would get in sniffing distance of our first team ...and rightly so ... we have moved beyond ... just the natural order ..![]()
I don't think there's a massive difference between Nugent and Okazaki. I expect our currently seemingly undroppable front man will get around the same amount of goals as Nugent did last season.
On Waggy I agree with you. That one season aside, he was barely Championship level.

Great to see his career back on track even if its in a poor league

... so after just 7 games for us you have written Okazaki off as no better than David Nugent?... fair play ..
He got 12 and 15 goals (from open play) in his last 2 seasons for Mainz in the Bundesliga ... he has scored 45 times for Japan in 95 internationals ...
I think the statistics already prove that there is a massive difference between the two players ... but you are of course perfectly entitled to your opinion ...
I think in time you'll see there is a big difference between Nugent and Okazaki.
Could I ask why you think he is "seemingly undroppable?" He has been part of the team that went 6 games unbeaten, playing good football, (obviously not as good as the excellent football you saw us play during our bad run last season) and has actually been substituted a few times when things have needed to be changed.
Because he has replaced last season's top goalscorer and hasn't done nearly as well yet he remains in the team. He has been hauled off, your right, but starts again the next week. Anyone would think there was some kind of ulterior motive to picking him, like, I don't know, overseas marketing?

He was absolutely great against Sunderland and scored a real poacher's goal against West Ham ... the guy has had a great start ... but if the facts don't pan out as you'd like there is always a good conspiracy theory eh? ...
As a goal scorer, particularly at International level, he has stats that Nuge could only ever hope to match if the game makers of FIFA16 mistakenly mixed his profile with ............. Shinji Okazaki![]()

Really, good on him.
..Shinji has goals against the likes of Argentina,Chile and Belgium...Nuge has that tap in from 3 mm out that would have gone in if he'd been watching rather than playingHe started well, yes - against a completely abject Sunderland and, like you said, a poached goal against West Ham. Not so good the last five games.
Comparing them at International level is hardly fair, Okazaki comes from a country where football is far from the number one sport and much of the continental opposition is very poor. At least Nugent has taken to the field for England and scored - a lot of very good English players haven't achieved that.
As for the conspiracy theory - it's not that far fetched. I mean, he's not the first average Japanese player we've had is he?
