Paul Dickov has got the Donny Rovers job.

Doncaster Rovers FC ‏@drfc_official 54m
Doncaster Rovers can confirm that former Oldham Athletic manager Paul Dickov is the club's new manager. #drfc

Bit harsh on Flynn. He got them promoted, he should have been given a chance. But hey, they extended his contract by two weeks at the end of April, so he got that. <doh>

He retired and took a place upstairs if i'm not mistaken.

According to wikipedia:

At the end of the season, Flynn expressed a desire to step down as manager and return to a role of developing and recruiting players. Doncaster offered him a senior role in this as well as helping to choose the new manager.

I thought it was another successful caretaker manager not being backed, but he didn't want the job. Fair play to Donny though for giving him a good job and letting him help choose the new manager. It'll be a good opportunity for Dickie. Winners all round!

At least Dickov's being supported by a more senior head upstairs, this should happen more often as it would help a better player-manager transition. That said, it's unlikely many would want to take the 'upstairs job.'

Bet Donny fans aren't particularly happy - Dickov almost got Oldham relegated from league 1 so why exactly is he cut out for Championship management?

Dickov will do a good job there. He had alot of problems off the pitch at Oldham with them not being able to afford to pay for Gerry Taggart and other coaches so Dickov was working on his own. That win over Liverpool really saved them financially aswell.

What makes you so sure he'll do well? He could just as easily be to Donny what Phil Parkinson was to us

Steve Harper is leaving Newcastle after 20 years. He was sitting on the bench for most of his career and seemed very happy just being along for the ride

Can anyone else see Conrad Logan repeating that feat?

Sven Goran Eriksson yesterday resigned as technical director at UAE club Al Nasr and today was appointed manager of Chinese club Guangzhou R&F

He has become a bit of a joke now. He well and truly ****ed us over

I'd like to think of it as a learning curve, plus he did bring in our hottest property of the moment.

@SkySportsNews: Tottenham's Andros Townsend suspended for four months for betting related offences. Ban backdated to May 23 with three months suspended #ssn

How stupid is that? Basically his suspension is lifted when the season starts!

So he is suspended for about 2 games

He's not out for any games, the ban runs out June 23rd.

Funny, that's exactly what some of my non-Leicester supporting friends said when we employed him. They said he was a joke and just follows the money, shrugging and saying "that's football" when it all goes tits up. I shrugged it off as jealousy at the time. A year and a half later and we're still suffering from his legacy.
