Rowett has said that our situation needs experienced heads rather than youngsters. Daka and Ayew have plenty of that, but precious little else when it comes to scoring goals. A bit of youthful enthusiasm might come in handy if he can get a striker from somewhere in the club and get them to train with the first team during the international break.

Wholly agree - a confident youngster with no fear factor would be great - I'm old enough to remember a kid called Dave Buchanon scoring both goals in a 2-0 win against Oldham on debut at Filbert St - another teenager made his debut in that game - played in midfield and was pretty anonymous - hauled either at, or just after, half-time... name of Gary Lineker ... probably never amounted to much <whistle>

Often experienced heads are very beneficial. However, if your experienced heads are Ayew and Daka, it's not.

Pretty woeful ... terrible defensively, both full backs are liabilities ... Mukasa stood out ... fair play to Daka - took his chances (-both created by Preston players) well enough and harried all game ... but he was also wayward with other chances ...

Vardy would have had at least 20 goals this season from the chances Daka and Ayew have squandered ... and that's the biggest issue - although there are others ...

Rowett needs to be brave now ... Ricardo is being targeted by opposing teams ... whilst he's still very technically able he can be beaten for pace by a tortoise with a zimmer frame ...

Big Jannick and Lascelles should probably start and move Okoli to right back ...

Ricky could be an alternative to Winks or Skipp... but only play one of them ...

Mukasa and James for creativity in midfield ...

Monga should be started instead of Mavididi, who has been underwhelming for quite some time...

To say Monday is must win is stating the obvious, but how many goals have we conceded through lapses in concentration or just plain slack play? Preston’s second goal yesterday was dumbfounding, two players unmarked and no one on the posts, so where was everyone? I agree Mavididi isn’t producing and needs replacing, my main concern is that Rowett has suggested we need experience in this situation so would probably stick someone like Decordova Reid or Ayew in his place to little or no affect. Nice to see Daka showing some urgency, hopefully it rubs off on a few others.

Surely you can't be dissing the same De Cordova-Reid who was voted our player of the match yesterday! <laugh>

He was only on the pitch for 15 minutes but that was enough to put everyone else in the team to shame! What more can the man do?

We are truly blessed.

B De Cordova-Reid
Average Rating:6.33

J. Lascelles
Average Rating:5.75

J. Vestergaard
Average Rating:5.50

P. Daka
Average Rating:5.14

Daka was our top performer ... one of only a few that really put in a shift... in terms of real quality, Mukasa ...

The old adage about Ngolo Kante was that there must actually be 2 of him ... Winks and Skipp in the same side is the antithesis... they merge to become one slow, ponderous, pedestrian, plodfest...

Worrying stat : Sheffield Wednesday are winless in their last 21 home league games (D6 L15), the longest run without a home win in English Football League history.

I wonder when that run will come to an end. <doh>

The good bank holiday weather should get a few Wednesday fans out today. Our reputation goes before us so they will know exactly what they need to do to claim a big scalp and, even better, today's team sheet should give them a huge confidence boost. It suggests we can look forward to more of the same, with very little on the bench that offers any upgrade in quality, effort or desire.

What is that old saying about you'll always get the same result if you keep doing the same thing? Hopefully it doesn't apply today or we are in deep, deep brown stuff.

Should have won at a canter - woefully inept...

First - credit to Jordan Ayew - excellent finish and made a real positive impact today

Daka missed chances my Grandma could have finished better... and she's been dead 50 years now...

Mavididi is a trickless pony and needs dropping - Monga deserves longer than 5 or 10 minute cameos

Winks and Skipp in the same XI turn us into a walking football outfit ..

Ricky continues to be a defensive liability...

Rowett needs to ditch the baseball cap and the incessant gum chewing ... makes him look a twat - minor gripe but still.

Fully agree, that’s our 3 point banker out the window, fortunately everyone around us all drew so no one pulled away from us. Daka was wearing Akinbiyi’s boots from what I saw and Ayew looked like a premier league striker when he came on, Rowett can only play roulette as to which one to pick as they’re so unpredictable. It didn’t help that their goalie had the game of his life, he made some outstanding saves. We desperately need James back, and need him to hit the ground running, we’ve only five games left now. I’m starting to watch games through my fingers.

Not really much to say - the fact Rowett has dedided he has no alternative to playing the same ineffective midfield and strikers game after game when we need goals and wins, says it all...

Can't risk youth? - a 17 year old opened the scoring for Liverpool this evening ... they won.

Thanks Gary - but you're not the man we need to steer the ship ...

With Vardy departing a natural goal scorer was a priority as everyone can see, apart from the board, that our current strikers aren’t up to it. The need to replace him was even more obvious at Christmas yet still no action was taken. We’ve actually carved out some half decent chances in the past few games but to virtually no one’s surprise we’ve not converted them. The board have no one but themselves to blame for this mess, unimaginative managerial appointments and either stubbornness or just pure ineptitude thinking we’d get by with Daka and Ayew up front.
Get ready for league one now, it’s coming.

Absolutely - 2 transfer windows wasted...
