Happy New Year everyone. Feels strange to be able to say that, as I should not be here by all accounts. Officially in remission. Let us have a great 2024, whether football related or not.

I just popped in to post the good news that Fatawu has agreed to withdraw from the Ghana squad for the AFCON.

But your news is much better Barwell. Excellent, delighted to still have you with us.

I’m off to Millwall tomorrow for the cup game. First time I’ve been to the New Den. Is it as rough as people make out, or is there no need to worry? Cheers.

Well, I'd definitely keep your wits about you. We were outside Nine Bar before the home game with Millwall and a group of about 10 of them ran past randomly attacking those of us in the outside garden. All of us just middle aged or kids. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt. And I know you can't tar all fans because of a few but be careful.

Ok, thanks. We’ll have no colours on, obviously, and just keep our heads down and try to look inconspicuous.

Cannon looks like he’s settling in well. We kept out of trouble, but had to wait about 15 minutes at South Bermondsey station while some home supporters were dispersed. Plenty of police presence, felt safe enough. We should have been put of sight before they got their second, we created plenty of good chances.

Shout out for Cesare Casedei today- fine goal and his lay-off to Ricardo was sublime ...

As for going to Millwall - not been to the New Den but went twice to the old one both for losses in the FA Cup ... hairy as **** ... 1984 trip the worst... they played Luton away in the next round ...

Was that the infamous match when they had a pitched battle, literally, when the tv cameras were there? They were dark days regarding football violence.

Yup - they beat us 2-0 and their 'fans' invaded the pitch and stormed the away end, which was fenced in ... took mounted police to disperse them and we were kept in the ground for over an hour ... they were still trying to ambush us on the way back to the station, even then ...<laugh>

I think I’ve only ever seen trouble once at a football match. That was when we drew 2-2 at Forest about 20 years ago. Forest fans were trying to get across the road to us, but there were mounted police dividing us. One or two Forest fans attacked the horses!

Very sad to read Emile Heskey faces bankruptcy proceedings after poor investments. As someone who put his own money into the club to help save us, I certainly hope there is a way that can be found to help him out of a stressful situation.
