Possibly harsh but not like I’m calling for the guys head, far too soon for that. I do think this jeckle and Hyde form is something that will continue though. As I say, I would sooner see us being consistent at a slightly lower level over all as we seem to have more lows than highs and to me, it’s not worth it. When we go 2-0 down it’s game done as the side has a soft underbelly and fall apart when things get tough. There’s certain traits that we should expect from an Leicester side in that they don’t quit as the saying goes which is what I am disappointed with.I think you're being a bit harsh, John. When this team does fire then we play some very good quick interpassing. I do understand and agree with you that it is the fact we are capable of that that makes it so frustrating when we play like we did against Liverpool, Fulham and Villa. And like most people the passing across the back that allows the opposition to get back into a defensive position drives me potty.
What I find even more frustrating is the fact that we are not capable of defending properly and give away such preventable goals. Fofana's first couple of games made him look like the answer to our prayers. He commanded his own penalty area in the air, held his position and made some great challenges and tackles. I don't know what has happened to that player. When he plays in a back 5 he's all over the place, with no one trying to rein him in. Last night in a back 4 he looked much better but he was responsible for the goal. One minute he's next to the guy who scores and the next thing he's 5 yards behind him and it's a tap in. Spot the danger and follow the man. Good defending isn't rocket science. It's about concentration, awareness and positioning. Those are all things that someone needs to ram into Choudhury's head. We might as well have placed a traffic cone on the pitch instead of him last night. At least it would have been in the right position some of the time. He has absolutely no idea of where he should be as a midfielder. His development has gone backwards.
The only positives last night were the fact that Ricardo and Wilf got some game time in, and it was probably better that Cags broke down last night rather than in a league game. James Justin continues to be the only consistent player in the side, and he should get great credit for having played every game this season and doesn't even look tired.
Agree re defence and in attack we just seem very static and not looking for the spaces. My favourite showing this season was Leeds when Vardy and Barnes were pressing and pressing and forcing mistakes, other than that we just seem very lacklustre.
Set pieces is another area where we just seem to be poor at both ends, a professional footballer shouldn’t be failing to beat the first man as often as Maddison does.
I guess that training time is very much limited with the mid week games every week but you just want to see evidence of mistakes learned from.
