They're also running out of steam at the wrong time. But we know how football is, you never can tell. What you can say though is that we have the best chance of automatic promotion since we when up ten years ago. When we made the play-offs last time, we never looked like troubling the top two.

I'm not sure on what basis.you say that we're running out of steam? We were the form team in december and in January we have drawn had 1 tricky draw, our reserves drew in the cup. Granted we were appalling on Saturday but I think its a little early to be coming out with statements like that

One win in five. <ok>

As you said, you were on a tremendous run, so this has to be seen as a drop in form. I said you were running out of steam before Saturday, that result just compounded the theory.

Your blip may already be over (Bruce will have kicked some arse after that performances, I'm sure) but now we look to be the finished article, even slight drops in form for you, Boro, Palace or even Cardiff could prove fatal.

I actually feel I wouldn't swap places with any of those clubs right now (alright, maybe Cardiff) but I also feel it's going be an exciting race to the end.

I told them they will slump soon and they was having none of it. Yh it was only 2 games but we have gained 5 points on them

I seem to remember telling them that they'd start dropping points to the bottom teams as they struggle for survival, but I was also derided. Didn't take long did it? Never mind, just Peterborough next. <whistle>

For me, it's how you bounce back in the next game - Steve Bruce will be looking for a response and some character and desire from his players - the other thing I always find quite bizarre is the way the maths can work out - you could draw three games 1-1 and be worse off overall than a team that loses 2 games 1-0 but then wins the third 3-0 - arguably the first set of results is better for team morale and 'form' - but it leaves you further down the table.

So the philosophy has to 'go for the win' in my book ...

I agree Fosse, it does depend on how we bounce back. No doubt Bruce has told a lot of the players a few home truths after Saturday.

Leicester appear to have bounced back after some poor results in December - losses to Leeds, Millwall and Cardiff and drawing with Barnsley.

Personally I think that unless we bring in a proven striker this month our lack of firepower will cost us any chance of automatic.

And Proud and Lesta, your club appears just as likely to get bad results as we do. Your form this season has been inconsistent throughout. I don't think anyone could predict what will happen this season - every club is experiencing shock results and I can't see that changing.

I'm hoping that we are able to bounce back. We've got a great bunch of lads and I'm sure they won't let their heads hang. I think Steve Bruce's philosophy is, "GO FOR IT" because we hardly draw, I think it's like 30 odd games since our last score draw which means when there's a goal involved, we either win or lose. All four draws this year have been 0-0. Bruce doesn't set the team up defensively, we are an attacking outfit in every game whatever the opposition. It's working, it's entertaining, Aluko has come out and said it's the best brand of football he's every come across, and as a City fan for many years now, I agree.

There's something different about the side this year, more attacking prowess, desire and intent that's really needed in order to sustain a Promotion push. We won't stay out of form for long, I think this month will be our dip. Fingers crossed we have a new Goalkeeper and forward by the end of the month and we'll finish the last few months really strong. I can't see us falling out of the Top 6 at all. Likewise Leicester. I think the 2nd spot is going to be fought until the end.

I understand what your saying but we have the best defence in the league and are scoring goals for fun at the moment. We have the divisons form striker alongside someone who has scored 12

Hull are a very good team but Bruce has a few issues that need addressing else its play offs for you. Not a bad thing as you like us have come a long way this season after 2 years of being pretty ****

Blame Jimmy Hill!

True, but Wood does seem to have made a big difference. This is why I keep saying Friday if massive. Wood hasn't played against a decent side yet, so if he does the same to Boro as he did to Burton, Huddersfield and Bristol, then I will be very, very confident.

I think, like us before Christmas, you're also missing that elusive striker to put away the many chances you create. Any news on this? I think your quest for an automatic place hangs on it.

Sone Aluko is out for 6 weeks.

Time to hit Hull hard and get that auto spot.

That's the problem, all our midfield; Brady, Elmohamady, Quinn, Koren, Meyler and Aluko would walk into any Championship midfield, but who do you drop? With all our strikers being ****e, we have to just play 3 defenders and 7 midfielders.

Proschwitz isn't getting a start because of the drab performance at The Riverside, but that's harsh because he started alongside McLean which is always a recipe for disaster. He needs a chance to start alongside Aluko really. We're almost the finished article, we just need that Goalkeeper and clinical forward or else we're going to miss out on a great chance of automatic promotion.

They really wouldnt

Knockaert> Aluko
Drinkwater> Quinn
King> Koren

Yeah that's what you think, you obviously have never seen any of them play!

Can I just say how refreshing it has been to read some proper footie discussion on this thread - not meant to be condescending - it really is ...

Wood has certainly hit the ground running with you, but like you say, tougher defences beckon.

I personally think our lack of firepower will cost us unless it is addressed. No news on a striker as yet, although we've been heavily linked with Campbell at Sunlan.

Don't you condescend me, man <ok>

Agree with the others, but not sure about King>Koren. In the long term, yes, so I'd rather HAVE King, but I suspect Koren would be keeping King out of the team right now if we had both. Although there's an argument that James would keep both of them out!

King was class for the first 20 games. But since then he has gone back to his old self and lost his place because of it

But over all I would rather a in form Andy King over an in form Koren
