It is a beauty of a strip. I have ordered one and I am not really a strip wearer. For that one I will make an exception.

Bought the bucket hat as well, I do like a hat to cover me baldy head.

Yeah, might get one of those as well as a cap doesn't really protect your ears in this sun we are having :)

Can’t wait for mine to come. Couldn’t bank on getting to store today as assumed I’d be badly hungover.

I was correct in this assumption.

I have only just seen the video on the SAFC website. They were some duo those two. Brought back some tremendous memories watching that. Dennis Smith speaking well too, great to see him.

Got me thinking a bit about those times. Some of the players we had were pretty goos for the time. Gates was clearly a cut above in terms of quality and vision. But Owers and Armstrong were good lads as well and had Bracewell orchestrating everything. McPhail and Bennet were good together and Norman one of our all time great keepers.

Happy times they were.
I really got into going to the match with my mates when McMenemy came in and it was a testing time. Gutted when we got relegated to the 3rd Division, but I loved every minute of that season and the couple of seasons that followed with the play offs etc.

I was a couple of yards away from Speedies nut when Benno had him. Someone bounced a pie off it <laugh>
The only game where Roker Park expanded its capacity to 250000 and the ground was completely filled! I was there as well with my mate Turner but we were in the Roker End so didn’t get that good a view. Still, it’s enough for us to say “we were there!”

I was stood on crack (home made collapsable stool) in the clockstand paddock and a wonderful birdseye view of Bennet with his hands round Speedys throat as he took him out right before us.
That picture l will take with me to my final resting place.
KTF
I know them as a cracket but then Mrs D's mam was from Seaham so it might be local to there and her dad's family from Southwick (definately not Suddick) were too well off to have a home made stool.

Back to subject, arrived at the poly in Sept 86 so the G force was definately my era. Great kits, great players and a canny gaffer made it quite a golden era.

Ha ha I remember that. Also remember the Herbie Hesford chants because he drove a VW Beetle :emoticon-0140-rofl:
I used to love watching the players arrive in their sponsored motors. You could read who was sponsored by who in every programme. I used to always read that every week, even though they only changed once a year at best <laugh>

Imagine now. Now Mr Grealish, on top of your wage packet we have Blondies mate who will give you a little run around while you are hear. Got you a nearly new focus, she will clean up lovely <laugh><cheers>

Ah I remember that but in the programmes.

Million miles away from today.

It’s a canny little video. I’d forgotten that it was Gates who suggested the partnership with Marco, as opposed to some moment of wisdom from Denis Smith.

Also loved the quote from Gates about the instructions he gave to Marco…. “When I get the ball I just want to see your fat arse running towards the goal…”

Ruben used to live out the back of me, Kentmere Avenue, Seaburn Dene Estate

We weren't Seaburn Dene Estate Boot Boys, promise. Had nothing to do with those lads who took notoriety from the area. Promise.

Great days them my friend... following "Denis Smiths Red And White Army"

Tremendous

Similar to SNQ, "When the balls knocked up to me, for a knock on, be on the penalty spot Kev lad".

I was at both games, but I cannot remember much about the home leg draw. Did Hardyman tackle one of their players as he was taking the penalty? <laugh> <laugh> <laugh>
It's what I want to believe is true, but cannot remember why I saw it like that <laugh>

My mate and I were in our suits in the Milburn (?) Main stand seats and had to stand up several times as their "United" cheer went round the ground... at 2-1 we enjoyed talking, or should that be shouting between ourselves that "they always let us down" <cheers>

Me, Pete Crosby and Steve Nattrass managed to get tickets, in the Milburn Stand, from a TV bloke called Mike Neville.

We tried, and failed, to keep our gobs shut and thought we were in for it.

But, as the Mags trooped out, we were singing 'Do you know the way to Wembley' <laugh>

It was totally irresponsible but, once we'd been sussed, we just thought we may as well front it out and act tough ...

... the only bother we got was at the Wheatsheaf, in Boldon, with some Mags who weren't too please when we walked into 'their bar'.
