It's probably what they want. You're making them martyrs, at least in their eyes. Surely 50 years of being on the lowest rung of the prison ladder is a worse punishment. In any case, the death penalty isn't a deterrent, so achieves nothing.

Not if a woman pulls the leaver. Then its down to hell for them.

There's not any doubt today, what with DNA and other advances.
So DNA can't be planted? DNA can't be at a scene, but irrelevant to a crime?
Errors are still made all of the time. There are convictions there from the last decade.
The evidence of Evans innocence came from the Lodovic Kennedy film, which contains some flaws and missing detail. There're others that put forward a case to show he was quite likely guilty as charged, and as bizarre as it sounds, there were two killers in the same house.
So the conviction was an error and the decision to overturn it was, too? <laugh>
I'm glad that people have so much faith in this system!

Nah, some of you tried to claim a different point to the one I made, and then argued that.

I've stuck pretty rigidly to my point where I can, but you and others do tend to ramble as a way of rephrasing things. Had I made the same silly statement, you and a couple of others would be telling me why it's wrong. It's comical to watch.

One life is one too many is a flawed, glib statement when used as an argument against capital punishment.

Only we didn't.

We just ripped into the point you made, you can't seem to understand the difference.

You tried claiming that the "The 'one death is too many' argument" against the death penalty was flawed, due to "
"a percentage of the wrongful executions were innocent of the crime, but far from innocent individuals"

Therefore "That seems to point to the general public being far more at risk of being the victim of a released prisoner, than a victim of the justice system."

All your words, and the words that prompted the responses.

Out of those who are fine with innocent people being killed, can I ask for a volunteer to get the ball rolling?
After all, it's only one life, isn't it?

Who died and left you in charge?

Is he the pet waif and stray you all defend? All he's done is try to hide behind others, If he has an opinion he should spit it out, not try weakly hiding behind you and others.

I stated mine clearly, despite others trying to spin it. If they then choose to drop it to some sort of challenge or personal level, I'll oblige, but I prefer discussing.

It's why I left the door wide open for others to post numbers to show my claim is wrong.

Now you trying that belittling **** on me.

He has an opinion he spat it out....you can't accept it. Nothing wrong with defending someone.

You have had your head up @petersaxton arse for the last 6 months. I won't be surprised if he's fitted a kitchen in it for you to feel at home.

Aye, that's about the size of it.

It's not a perfect system, none are. There are 1000's dying all over the world through injustice of one form or another. I wouldn't advocate it as being compulsory in every murder or rape as, but I've no issue with it being an option available.

As an example, Huntley is a narcissistic type, who still performs when he feels the need for attention. Instead of feeding his ego and caring for him, I reckon we could make his bed available for others.

And no, it's not justice as such, it's a degree of vengeance and pragmatics.

Hindley and Brady played the system with that young lad that was still missing, getting back I to the attention they craved every ow and again. The threat of being out of the lime light if they didn't come clean on where he was, could have saved the poor lads family some torment.

You seem to have an obsession with me. It's not healthy. Try to find a useful hobby or make something of your life.

That others are dying through injustice is not a reason to introduce such deaths to our system.
That's utterly flawed.

Ian Brady has wanted to die for years. You want to give him what he wants.
Leaving aside the fact that he's clearly utterly mental, his mere existence appears to be an ongoing punishment for him.
Studying fruitcakes like this is valuable and freeing them from punishment is not.

I can see your argument, and accept it to a point. Keeping Brady alive against his wishes as a way of tormenting him, doesn't seem to be about justice to me, but I don't honestly have a problem with it.

Fruitcakes and psychopaths are not wired like the rest of us or from what I can tell, like each other. I'very seen a few documentaries where they're interviewed, and the shrinks reckon there's not a lot to be learned from them. Their methods and MO's seemed to be ore revealing as far as investigating new cases. The programmes I saw seemed to say the killer wasn't needed for that. They seemed to just accept prison, where they get a degree of 'respect' from fellow loons.
They're never going to be cured or released, so why let them steal oxygen?
