I didn't expect much, but absolutely fcking nothing?? I mean, not even a mention on the Beeb's feed and all signs pointing to yet another Summer of **** from our eternal misery-deliverer, Mr. Lee "****" Charnley.

All I've seen is someone on this thread claiming we won't pay a loan fee for Matt Targett (whoooooooooo?!) and that the deal for Lazaar is dead. Oh and the most recent update is Everton have taken Lucas Perez leaving us relying on a plan b our illustrious MD simply doesn't have.

Can anyone explain to me the ****ing point of getting promoted???? Seriously, what's the ****ing point? So we can scrabble around the bargain bin awaiting ****ing relegation?
just had this conversation with a friend
I'm hardly suprised, but where are you getting these updates from?
was on a news now article csulkin from the times

Wolves will eclipse our spending. I repeat, what was the ****ing point in promotion.

Well, sure, I know what Mr. Ashley has SAID. But where's the money we should have gone? Personal opinion - Charnley is an accountant. A bang average one. But he does things a certain bean-counter-ish way. I don't know how other clubs do it, but it seems they do it properly and allow for money to be spent on players.

Out of interest, does anyone know how many employees the club has? In comparison to, say, West Brom - they have Guochan Lai (Owner), Martin Goodman (CEO), John Williams (Chairman), Richard Garlick (Dir. Of Football Admin), Simon Carrington (Club Secretary - that's what Charnley was), Nick Hammond (Tech Director), Li Piyue (Director), Martin Swain (Dir of Comms), Peter Band (Exec Director), Mark Miles (Dir. of Ops) and SImon King (CCO).

Newcastle United - Lee Charnley (MD). Bob Moncur (Ambassador). Erm. That's it. If this isn't a massive problem I don't know what is.

Oh, and let's not forget we have Mike's buddy, Justin Barnes, hanging around the place - presumably with a final say on everything. Or at least until Ashley discovers he's fiddled him on a deal somewhere and he ends up in court.

Why is Rafael Benitez still here?
Genuinely think its for the fans because, currently, I see no other reason. Mind his daughter is at uni round here, so maybe that's another reason Mike's gambling on pissing him off.
Could go to West Ham for a sleeping giant scenario, could go to China for better wages.
See him resigning at the end of the window when we sign no one, because even he can't save this ****storm. If he stays, unwavering support is due

I am still hoping (but not expecting) that we might pull a rabbit out of the hat with a decent striking option. I can live with our defence. Mbemba is a decent back up at left back and I think Rafa will be able to marshall them into a decent, if not spectacular, unit. It will all be for nothing though if we don't score goals.

Ian Dennis (BBC) has reported we're keeping Gayle. That's right - NUFC are now pretending that we didn't need a striker in the first place and our glorious board (i.e. Charnley) have steadfastly refused offers from bigger clubs (Fulham). Hoorah for Charnley. Now we have a half fit, disinterested, unwanted no. 9 leading our pursuit for Premier League glory.

Fear not, ladies and gents - we've put in a bid. A real one. For Rafael Cabral.

(he's a goalkeeper, Reina's understudy at Napoli.)
I don't get why we are even looking at a keeper,we have 5 on the books(2 on loan) and already Everton sniffing around Woodman, looks like another Foster in the making!

I don't mind us keeping Gayle. He's a not bad OPTION to have, but not as a lone striker. If they think we don't need stronger options they are mad though.

Can only think Benitez considers keeper distribution integral to how he plays. Darlow is incapable, Elliots normally pretty good but has looked gash so far this season and to be fair Woodman I can't comment on.
Yeh I don't get it with Woodman, trained with England first team and everybody was raving about him. Why don't we give him a chance before he ****s off

An apparently last min bid for striker Cenk Tosun from Besiktas, but...
It is believed that Newcastle will have to make a bid of around £12 million for the target man to meet Besiktas’ valuation but the Magpies are offering only £8 million for the Turkish international. While Newcastle may have managed to get the price down under normal circumstances, they will struggle to do so today as there is very little time remaining in the window and Palace are said to be ready to match Tosun’s price tag.

We seem to have an absolute mental block at this club about playing youngsters. I know keepers are riskier than most, but the old cliche is true. If they are good enough they are old enough.

Ah! Suddenly it all makes sense.

We were all set to sell our top scorer, then at the last minute he's reprieved.

We're meant to think it's like a new signing.
