The 15 year old Sooryavanshi has just hit a 15 ball 50 in the IPL. There's special, and then there's this. He hit a bloody ton in last year's IPL! As soon as he turns 16 he's making his international debut (only ICC rules are standing in his way right now).

Reactions: The Ides of March
Interesting article on BBC Sport about full substitutes being allowed for illness, injury and life events in domestic cricket this season. Has to be like-for-like and, in the case of illness or injury, the subbed player is blocked from the next week's fixture as well, automatically.

I wonder if we're one of the two counties that Ben Charlesworth is considering from the start of next season. He only averages early 30s but stats don't tell the full story and he had a good season last year, including a return to bowling with this useful medium pacers.

Although I'd rather we use Sussex's financial problems to nab James Coles and Tom Haines...

I see Farbrace is leaving Sussex after this season. We really should be going all out to get Coles.

We are not apparently. Glad TBH, he's a decent enough player but we can aim higher IMO.

Fingers crossed the weather plays ball tomorrow. The latest forecast suggests most of the rain will eitther pass The UB by 10am or pass north of it throughout the day.

Mayes in the squad for tomorrow, as are Lehmann and Yusuf. I would imagine the two likely to miss out are one of Currie and Jack and one of Mayes and Prest. With Orr not in the squad I would assume Weatherley will open with Albert.

I would like to see:

Weatherley
Albert
Gubbins
Lehmann
Brown
Daws
Mayes
Abbott
Yusuf
Jack
Baker

I'm not bothered that Fletcha hasn't made the squad, but I would have liked Orr to have been in the mix.

Even though Currie is yet to crack red ball cricket, I think I would pick him ahead of Jack.

No Ali Orr?? One of our more form batters of last season and he's made runs well so far in pre-season? I hope he's injured as, otherwise, he would have been an absolute no-brainer pick for me!

Assuming that Fuller is not yet match-fit (given that he didn't feature in pre-season either) then Currie is the only other one of our seam bowlers who could reasonably bat at 8. Yes, Organ or Neal could but we don't need 2 spinners in the early season games. I appreciate that Weatherley did have a bit of form before injury last year but I still don't trust him to deliver in red ball. The last thing we need is to piss Orr off so he seeks a move elsewhere to get some game time.

I'd go with Currie over Jack I think, just to add balance. I noticed that Gubbins opened a couple of times in pre-season so don't rule that out either, but he is more likely to continue to bat at 3, I agree.

I know it's not a proper main reason for team selection, but playing Currie also gives us another good option for fielding at slip, we need 3 minimum. So this team would now have Currie, Albert and Weatherley I'd suggest, at 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Prest would replace Weatherley in the cordon if he plays. Dawson should really be in there at 2nd, but he doesn't seem to like fielding there anymore.

One thing we've never tried is batting Weatherley in the middle order (say, 5 or 6) to be fair to him, but I don't see that happening any time soon this season either.

Orr was called up for Scotland A. Hants selecting him would overrule that but maybe we've granted his wish to play.

Good start to Sussex's opening Blast match...

I fear it could be a long season for Leicester.
