Really? He must have got all his runs in April/May then because I can't remember when he last made a decent score.
He got a hundred in both innings to keep us in the game against Lancs at home in the early part of the season but I'd have to look up the scorecards to see what he's got since then.

I think we all know where Surrey have the edge and are just that little bit too strong, we need 1 and perhaps 2 more good county top-order batsmen. Weatherley isn't good enough for a team challenging for the title (I know his white ball game has improved no end and he'll get the odd score, but he's far too inconsistent for a top top team). As much as I love Organ and Holland and think they both do a decent job for the team, Holland especially chipping in with the ball over the course of the season as well, really 1 of them would need to be replaced as well.

Perhaps Prest will develop and be the home-grown Weatherley replacement but I think we do need to sign an experienced county opener. The question is who, though, there are hardly loads available. Perhaps we could grab Haines from Sussex, with Ben Brown's connections, but his runs are scored in Div 2 of course.

Second highest run-scorer (after Felix). Second highest average (after Brown). Most balls faced. Most boundaries hit. Joint highest number of 100s (with Felix).

Don't get me wrong, an average under 40 is nothing to shout about. But that literally applies to everyone except Brown. Our batting has been way below our bowling.

Fair point.

Surrey have so many players averaging in excess of 40.

Sam Curran (76). Foakes (73). Pope (70). Jacks (54). Clark (52). Smith (44). Amla (42). Burns has just dipped below 40. And that's when excluding the ridiculously high averages achieved by Tom Curran and Hardie in their one-off games.

That's the difference this season. They've passed 300 in every first innings this season, which is incredible. Home or away. April or September. 300+ every time.

And with Sibley joining next season, they'll be adding to that (he's averaging just over 40).

It seems that there are still some demons in the pitch, it's going to be a long day, or maybe not.
Weatherly gone.

Decent lead for Somerset, just need to pile on the runs after lunch to make sure of setting them a target. I’d settle for a draw given that Gloucs will almost certainly beat Warks, but a win would be very handy.

And in the space of five minutes, Yorks might well be getting the favour from Gloucs.

From a potential disaster week for Yorks, to a potential disaster week for Warks.

And with Gloucs collapsing, the danger swings back to Yorks.
