Everyone has gone quiet recently for us, so I wouldn't put too much focus on that. We've had a shocking month of batting, not aided by some questionable wickets and 10.30am starts in September. He was the highest scoring batter from phase one, of the six sides in D1. That's impressive just when you consider that includes the likes of Vince, Abell, Lyth, Hain, TCK, Hameed and Clarke (albeit some of them were less available than Holland). But it's even more impressive given that he is, as you say, a makeshift opener. He's hardly an ideal choice. But he's way, way down the list of our problems. He can stay.
I was never anti-hundred, I was just annoyed that the West of England had no franchise. I ended up supporting the Brave despite most of Somerset’s players being scattered to the four winds.
It is very tight, the off stump is in line with the middle of Vilas' back thigh. It just looked so out at first viewing, I was amazed Hartley didn't give it. We'll never know if would have made any difference or not, but he was the key wicket. I'm ever so slightly biased but I'd say pitching on leg, struck on middle and hitting off stump.
It is our top order that have ultimately cost us two trophies and it is amazing to have got so close to the CC with an opening partnership average of about 19 and a top score of 55 all season.
We can't have too many problems given that we have gone all the way in two competitions, a decent top 3 would see further success and possibly a trophy or two. Having Daws all season would help too. Big Keith is definitely my POTS.
Can I just say as a neutral what an enthralling and exciting end to the county championship this has been. Hants have certainly got that never give up ethos, they don't know when they are beaten. As shown in the T20 group they come back from the brink. Unlucky lads but how close did you get from winning the championship, 1 ball, 1 lbw decision? As for Kent we have an uphill task tomorrow to score 98 with 5 wickets left to top Div 3. Exciting season though.
Against my beloved Middlesex! I feel Kent underperformed in the first half of the season in the CC. It will be fascinating to see what format the CC will take next year. As for tomorrow, I hope it goes to.the wire - and Kent win by a wicket, Middlesex win by 2 runs or it's a tie!!
Problem is I can't find the table now It was in the final day story, but has now gone The BBC insist on showing the tables before the last phase and ECB site is never up to date I presume Hants would have 16pts more and Somerset 16pts less?
If you scroll down you’ll see the final tables underneath the first phase tables. Makes no sense, but there they are.
Ah yes I remeber I saw them there before So if Hants had won they'd have 77.5pts 0.5 more than Warks That was blinking close
So for the second week running, Lancs were 47-7 in their first innings. Only this time, Warks have shown us how to wrap it up from there. The difference between county champions, and non county champions.
