You are totally wrong as usual, Channon - it's 2745............oh bugger.........

The Battle of Guinegate or Battle of the Spurs took place on 16 August 1513. As part of the Holy League, during the ongoing Italian Wars, English and Imperial troops under Henry VIII and Maximilian I surprised and routed a body of French cavalry under Jacques de La Palice. Henry and Maximilian were besieging the town of Thérouanne in Artois (now Pas-de-Calais). Henry's camp was at Guinegate, now called Enguinegatte. After Thérouanne fell, Henry VIII besieged and took Tournai.

Fancy a game of Shove Ha'Penny with me and anti later, Channon ?? Winner takes all <ok>. Hello anti - Uruguay deserved to win, and I'm sure Costa Rica will win as well. Think it is possibly time for Uncle Roy to stand down, and we look for another manager - Jose Mourinho anyone ?

In 1517 a third outbreak of the sweating sickness in England hit Oxford and Cambridge.

...and that was before they had the boat race to jangle their nerves

The Dancing Plague (or Dance Epidemic) of 1518 was a case of dancing mania that occurred in Strasbourg, Alsace (then part of the Holy Roman Empire) in July 1518. Numerous people took to dancing for days without rest, and, over the period of about one month, some of those affected died of heart attack, stroke, or exhaustion.

That was probably the forerunner to 'Come Dancing', richie <ok>

John Vesey was named Bishop of Exeter in the year 1519...........most apt, seeing as we play them in the opening match of the new season.

Good Afternoon anti. Bit of an anti climax for your pal arriving in England, when the players are due home early next week. Still, there is always 2018 in Russia to look forward to :emoticon-0101-sadsm:tongue:

German Peasant Rebellion, 1525.

The Peasant War of 1524–5 was an uprising of several hundred thousand peasants, workers, and artisans in mostly southern Germany but also in
Tyrol, Alsace and Lorraine, as well as Carniola, Slovenia. The war, brought on by a combination of several factors, including changes in social and
economic structures, heavy taxation by both the nobility and Catholic Church, religious changes engendered by the Reformation, and a crisis of
the old feudal system, is often seen as the last medieval peasant revolt in Europe. Marxists, however, interpret it as the first modern revolution.

Evening anti <ok> Really hot here today, hope it continues. Not sure if I can raise enough interest to watch England v Costa Rica tomorrow. More humiliation ? At least a few changes to the team.

The First Battle of Panipat, on 21 April 1526, was fought between the invading forces of Babur and the Lodi Empire. It took place in north India and marked the beginning of the Mughal Empire. This was one of the earliest battles involving gunpowder firearms and field artillery.
The battle was fought on 21 April 1526 near the small village of Panipat (now an industrial town in Haryana), in the present day Indian state of Haryana, an area that has been the site of a number of decisive battles for the control of Northern India since the twelfth century.
It is estimated that Babur's forces numbered around 15,000 men and had between 20 to 24 pieces of field artillery. Babur estimated Lodi had around 100,000 men, though that number included camp followers. The actual Lodi fighting force was around 30,000 to 40,000 men in total, along with at least 1,000 war elephants.

Greetings Woopert - sunny windy day today a lot of nervous toupe wearers about winds up to 80kmph - yes I have a dilemma the match kicks off here at 2am and Wednesday as you know is sports day so if I put in a shocker I could blame the early start - lets see what the team changes can do although Lampard is a small worry but what a sickener if they go out and win - good Lord a 15 ton elephant has just flown past the window ATB
