Lucas Cranach the Elder (1472 - 1553): Cranach was one of the leading German painters and printmakers of the early 16th century. As court painter of the Elector of Saxony, the patron of Luther, Cranach is remembered as the chief artist of the Reformation. He painted altarpieces, Lutheran subject pictures and portraits, as well as mythological decorative works and nudes, such as the 'Cupid complaining to Venus' in the Collection.

The Treaty of Utrecht was signed in 1474 after the Anglo-Hanseatic War between England and the Hanseatic League. This naval war had begun in 1470 using the naval strategy of commerce raiding in the North sea and the Channel. One of the most successful Man of war was the Peter von Danzig. The war, mainly driven by the cities Danzig and Lübeck, was a war against increasing English pressure against the trade of the Hanseatic cities of the southern coast of the Baltic sea, while Cologne had opposed and was therefore temporarily excluded from the Hansa. The treaty negotiated by Lübeck's mayor Hinrich Castorp granted the threatened privileges and the Hanseatic League gained ownership of the London Steelyard premises, which were secured this way until the middle of the 19th century as Hanseatic property in London. Evening anti. I hope someone has 'phoned ahead to Brazil, to warn them of SB3's imminent arrival, complete with his maracas ! Really hot here today, hope Tuesday will be the same. Have a good day.
The unit was formed on the 12th June 1941 as 1475 (3rd Lewisham) Squadron of the Air Training Corps under a Royal Warrant signed by His late Majesty King George VI dated 5th February 1941. The Squadron is one of over 1000 in the Air Training Corps (with a membership of 60000 cadets, aged 13 to 20 years, and volunteer staff). The ATC is a national youth organisation funded by the Royal Air Force to provide young people with training which will be useful in adult life, to foster an interest in the Royal Air Force and aviation. The "squadron" is the basic operating unit of the Corps with very close ties to its local community. It was those local ties that led to 1475 Squadron changing its title to reflect its present location when it moved to Dulwich after the war.
Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (1431–1476/77), was a member of the House of Drăculești, a branch of the House of Basarab, also known by his patronymic name: Dracula. He was posthumously dubbed Vlad the Impaler (Romanian: Vlad Țepeș pronounced [ˈvlad ˈt͡sepeʃ]), and was a three-time Voivode of Wallachia, ruling mainly from 1456 to 1462, the period of the incipient Ottoman conquest of the Balkans. His father, Vlad II Dracul, was a member of the Order of the Dragon, which was founded to protect Christianity in Eastern Europe. Vlad III is revered as a folk hero in Romania as well as other parts of Europe for his protection of the Romanian population both south and north of the Danube. A significant number of Romanian and Bulgarian common folk and remaining boyars (nobles) moved north of the Danube to Wallachia, recognized his leadership and settled there following his raids on the Ottomans.[1] As the cognomen 'The Impaler' suggests, his practice of impaling his enemies is part of his historical reputation.[2] During his lifetime, his reputation for excessive cruelty spread abroad, to Germany and elsewhere in Europe. The name of the vampire Count Dracula in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula was inspired by Vlad's patronymic.[2]

The Battle of Westbroek was a battle that occurred on December 26, 1481 between the armies of the prince-bishopric of Utrecht and the county of Holland. It was one of the last battles of the Hook and Cod wars. That war had already been decided in Holland in favour of the Cods and their Burgundian allies. But in Utrecht, they had lost the power, when Bishop David of Burgundy, who had ruled Utrecht since 1456, was chased there after the outbreak of the Second Utrecht Civil War. On December 26, 1481, David sent an army of 4-5000 men from Holland in the direction of Utrecht. When they reached the village of Westbroek, they burnt the village to the ground and killed all the inhabitants. When this news reached Utrecht, an armed mob headed towards Westbroek to take revenge. But when they saw the size of the army of the enemy, they fled back to the city. The Hollanders pursued them and killed everybody they could. No mercy was given and some 1500 Utrechters are said to have been slain. [1]

Buckingham's rebellion was a failed but significant uprising, or collection of uprisings, of late 1483 in England and parts of Wales against Richard III of England. To the extent that these local risings had a central coordination, the plot revolved around Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke of Buckingham, who had become disaffected from Richard, and had backing from the exiled Henry of Richmond (the future king Henry VII). Buckingham's precise motivation has been called "obscure"; he had been treated well by Richard. The traditional naming of the rebellion after him has been labelled a misnomer, with John Morton and Reginald Bray more plausible leaders. Still fields down there luckily - no sign of any high rise flats as of yet !
Index of Irish Wills 1484-1858 The vast majority of Ireland's testamentary records (wills, administrations, probates, etc.) were destroyed in the explosion that engulfed the Public Record Office of Ireland during the early stages of the Irish civil war in 1922. As near complete as that obliteration was, not everything was incinerated. Several volumes of original will and grant books, which had been used as cover against gunfire during the battle survived. More importantly the staff at the National Archives of Ireland (the successor organisation to the PROI) have spent the intervening years trying to recover from that loss.

Battle of Stoke June 16, 1487 ‘There was not one left to piss against the wall’. Sir Thomas Craig. Craig’s pithy observation concerning the Plantaganet line is broadly correct though, as Professor Pollard points out, the extinction was due, in no small part, to the assiduous elimination of likely competitors by the first two Tudor rulers. Even those families who poured out their blood in torrents, the Percies being a case in point, the second and third earls died in battle as did Lord Egremont and several younger sons, yet the line was not extinguished. The 4th Earl remained a powerful figure and the traditional Percy hegemony in Northumberland continued largely as before. Many magnatial families suffered through loss and forfeiture of course, and even in many attainders were later reversed, the wars proved the ruin of some. Nonetheless, it cannot be said that the overall rate of attrition amongst the landed classes was markedly higher during the period that at other times. Greetings Woopert. 5 pumped past the world cup champs didn't see that coming and who said old men cant Jump Cahill did and its 2-1 at half time - yes breakfast does sound interesting I fear I will be still tasting it come Tuesday - enjoy the weather ATB
