Pope Urban VI (Latin: Urbanus VI; c. 1318 – 15 October 1389), born Bartolomeo Prignano (Italian pronunciation: [bartoloˈmɛːo priɲˈɲaːno]), was Pope from 8 April 1378 to his death in 1389. He was the last Pope to be elected from outside the College of Cardinals.

Good Evening Woopert - Re Cup Final - the cream did rise to the top but Hull were more than competitive - back in Chateau Shag and off to do laps to hopefully compensate for the excesses of the weekend ATB

The Peasants' Revolt, also called Wat Tyler's Rebellion or the Great Rising, was a major uprising across large parts of England in 1381. The revolt had various causes, including the socio-economic and political tensions generated by the Black Death in the 1340s, the high taxes resulting from the conflict with France during the Hundred Years War, and instability within the local leadership of London. The final trigger for the revolt was the intervention of a royal official, John Bampton, in Essex on 30 May 1381. His attempts to collect unpaid poll taxes in the town of Brentwood ended in a violent confrontation, which rapidly spread across the south-east of the country. A wide spectrum of rural society, including many local artisans and village officials, rose up in protest, burning court records and opening the local gaols. The rebels sought a reduction in taxation, an end to the system of unfree labour known as serfdom and the removal of the King's senior officials and law courts.

What are all all these rumours that Liverpool are bidding £40 million for both Lallana & Lovren ?! Bit worrying..

    In the year 1384:-

Aug 16th - The Hongwu Emperor of Ming China, Emperor Dong, hears a case of a couple who tore paper money bills while fighting over them—a case considered equal to the act of destroying stamped government documents, which by law necessitated one hundred floggings by a bamboo rod. However, the Hongwu Emperor decided to pardon them, seeing as how their intention was not to tear up the money.

Oct 16th - Jadwiga is crowned King of Poland, although a woman.

conviction of a serious felony for purposes of enhancement of a
    sentence under Section 667.
    (c) (1) If the court has the authority pursuant to subdivision (a)
to strike or dismiss an enhancement, the court may instead strike
the additional punishment for that enhancement in the furtherance of
justice in compliance with subdivision (a).

additional punishment for any enhancement that cannot be stricken or
    dismissed pursuant to subdivision (a).

On September 1387 A.D. one of the most extravagant of the early Medieval English feasts was recorded. It was held in honour of King Richard the Second (Richard II) and the Duke of Lancaster (John of Gaunt). The list of food is staggering to a modern day audience, as is the number of dishes served in each of the three courses. However it does give us a very clear indication (and factual evidence) of what was made and eaten in a royal feast held for hundreds of guests, spread over three chambers. It was made and presented at the home of the Bishop of Durham in London and the solemnity and atmosphere of such an occasion would have been very serious. During the Medieval feast each of the three courses would have been served to a set of rules and etiquette, with the roasted birds and subtleties made to look fit for a king:

    Battle of Otterburn
    5th August 1388

The second half of the 14th century was a period of political instability both within England and Scotland and between the two countries. The truce that had existed between the two countries since the battle of Neville’s Cross was due to expire in 1384 but the ransom agreed to be paid as part of the truce had ceased to be paid by the Scots in 1377. An uneasy truce still existed but as factions within the ruling elites in both countries sought political advancement raids across the border increased. In 1383 both sides prepared for a renewal of hostilities: the English king, Richard II, demanded the outstanding ransom payment plus the return of ‘English’ land in Scotland; the Scottish king, Robert II, began to fortify his castles and entered into an agreement with France that would provide troops and equipment in the event of war.

Evening anti. Wet day today, and rain forecast for remainder of the week. W H Smith delivery bike, eh ? You must have had a big paper round ! Have a good day

September 11,1390 – In the Lithuanian Civil War, the coalition of Vytautas and the Teutonic Knights begins a 5-week siege of Vilnius. The Duke of Hereford (the future King Henry IV of England) is among the western European knights serving with the coalition.

Camp 1391 is an Israel Defense Forces prison camp for "high-risk" prisoners in northern Israel, run by Unit 504 and less than an hour's drive from Tel Aviv. The existence of the prison was unknown to the public before 2003, and most information about it remains classified, though Israel's supreme court ordered the release of some information about the jail.

Radio Seagull’s co-operation with the 1395 licence holders has ended, and Radio Seagull will cease broadcasts on 1395AM at 7pm on April 30th. We have been using the frequency for 13 months, and would like to thank everyone who sent in reception reports etc.
Radio Seagull will continue daily broadcasting via 1602 from 7pm til 7am (CET). Taking into consideration that the Spanish 27KW co-user of 1602, Radio Vittoria, will cease using this frequency by April 30th we hope to increase our coverage.

Evening Woopert sunny but dusty morning busy day cloning a new hard drive for my dads computer very time consuming - hope the weather improves for you ATB
