6972 entered traffic in October 1947, one of the last Halls to enter traffic before Nationalisation.
It was withdrawn from service in March 1964 from Bristol St Phillips Marsh shed 82B, the shed itself closing only 3 months later on 13/6/64.

Ex-GWR 'Modified Hall' 4-6-0 No 6976 'Graythwaite Hall' stands in Rugby Central's goods yard having just shunted a single fish van into the Explorator warehouse.
To carry out this working No 6976 has stabled its train on the main line, crossed over to the goods yard which was situated on the down side of the main line.
It would then rejoin its train crossing the line between paths of trains working both north and south through Rugby.
The reason No 6976 had stabled its train on the mail line not the relief line was because no through passenger train was due at this time, and through freights would be routed around the obstruction via the loop - as they typically would be to avoid the manoeuvering of the Nottingham-Rugby local as it prepared to return northward.

It's a 3-man job to get 6980 Llanrumney Hall moving on the turntable at Banbury. Exact date unknown but the lack of nameplates and hand-painted cab number suggest it's close to its withdrawal date in October 1965
