New from Vulcan Foundry in May 1965 and alloacted to Canton (86A). Re-numbered 37282 under TOPS, it later became No. 37405 and carried the name 'Strathclyde Region'. The loco survives as part of the DRS locomotive fleet.

please log in to view this image British Railways built Modified Hall class No 6986 'Rydal Hall' is seen passing Stratford on Avon East Signal Box on 16th August 1958. The locomotive must have been working hard as it wasn't being assisted, an unusual occurrence for Saturdays when traffic was very heavy. On the left is a rake of non-corridor coaches stabled in the siding adjacent to the down goods loop. Built at Swindon works to Lot 366 in March 1948 No 6986, a member of the 6959 class, remained in service until April 1965 when it was withdrawn from 81E Didcot shed to be scrapped by Birds of Bridgend.
please log in to view this image (GWR Design) No. 6989 ‘Wightwick Hall’ In 2018 ‘Wightwick Hall’ became the 150th steam locomotive to have been restored to operational condition after being rescued from Dai Woodham’s famous Barry Scrap Yard in South Wales. This was the culmination of a 41 year restoration by the 6989 Restoration Group. Arriving on loan to the Bluebell Railway on 23 June 2022, and initially expected to stay until after Giants of Steam that year, its visit has been extended through to late 2024. ‘Wightwick Hall’ spent its working life around Hereford. and Gloucester. After withdrawal it was one of the locomotives saved by being sold on from Barry scrapyard, moving to Quainton Road in January 1978, and restored to operational condition over the following 41 years.

Built at Swindon works to Lot 368 in November 1948 No 6991 remained in service until December 1965 when it was withdrawn from Oxford shed to be scrapped in May 1966 by J Cashmore of Newport.

please log in to view this image -British Railways built 4-6-0 6959 class No 6995 'Benthall Hall' is seen on the 7:40am St Austell to Wolverhampton Saturdays Only service in 1957. The cattle wagons on the left are standing in the former SMJ sidings whilst the SMJ line to Broom was carried over the former GWR route by the bridge seen above. In the mid-1950s this service was scheduled for a Grange locomotive allocated to Laira shed returning with the 9:00am Wolverhampton to Plymouth service the following morning. However these arrangements were often arbitrary and subject to availability of locomotives on the day in question. Built at Swindon works to Lot 368 in December 1948 No 6995 remained in service until March 1965 when it was withdrawn from 85A Worcester shed to be scrapped in July 1965 by Birds of Long Marston.
