On Australia Day 1988 Sydney Harbour, that 'chief amphitheatre of Australian life', was again the centre of attention. This time the extraordinary spectacle attracting some two million people to its shores was the arrival of Tall Ships from around the world and the First Fleet re-enactment. 1989: Massacre in Tiananmen Square Several hundred civilians have been shot dead by the Chinese army during a bloody military operation to crush a democratic protest in Peking's (Beijing) Tiananmen Square. Evening Anti - quiet day today, shopping in Newport. Weather not too bad, but not quite as hot as where you are ! Pleased to hear that all your extra security worked to protect your wine cellar whilst you were away. Hopefully the snow they have forecast will remain up North, and leave us alone. All the best
On 2 August 1990 Iraq invaded its rival oil-exporting neighbour Kuwait. The invasion was widely condemned, and four days later the United Nations (UN) Security Council unanimously approved a trade embargo against Iraq. A blockade of Iraq’s access to the sea followed within weeks, as the United States assembled a large multinational task force in the Persian Gulf, while another was formed in Saudi Arabia. Evenin' Woopert - absolutely hosing down what a waste of time getting nice and brown and growing a third lip - High Command hobbling round after treading on a glass splinter and its the first day of her being unemployed after where she worked closed down - trust you didn't spend the weekend shovelling snow poor old SB3 managed to get himself banned again I gave him some useful advice on his thread - cheers ATB

Jan. 24, 1995 - Criminal trial of O. J. Simpson opens in California. Hi anti - Rain first thing, then dry and very cold rest of the day. 52 is no age is it ? I dread reading the death columns in the local paper published every Friday, to see names of friends, and people I know. They seem to be getting younger and younger. Hope tomorrow goes o.k.
The Simpsons has been at the cutting edge of popular culture for a quarter of a century - but do Springfield's most famous residents have the ability to predict the future? According to Internet conspiracy theorists, the simple answer is yes. They claim the world famous TV series predicted the Ebola crisis back in a 1997 episode in which Marge tries to coax a sick Bart out of bed, as proof. She suggests he reads a book before producing one entitled 'Curious George and the Ebola Virus'.
Happy day! I look forward to the selection of product codes for washing machine spares which will surely follow.
The Human Rights Act 1998 (also known as the Act or the HRA) came into force in the United Kingdom in October 2000. It is composed of a series of sections that have the effect of codifying the protections in the European Convention on Human Rights into UK law. All public bodies (such as courts, police, local governments, hospitals, publicly funded schools, and others) and other bodies carrying out public functions have to comply with the Convention rights. This means, among other things, that individuals can take human rights cases in domestic courts; they no longer have to go to Strasbourg to argue their case in the European Court of Human Rights. One of the Human Rights, was mentioned as the god given right to continue this thread for as long as participants wish to, despite regular attempts by mods from other teams sites doing their best to close it down for some reason best known to themselves........
The year 2002 in film involved some significant events. The first significant releases of sequels took place between The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Men in Black II, Analyze That, Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, Stuart Little 2, Blade II, the 3rd installment Austin Powers in Goldmember, the 10th installments Star Trek: Nemesis and Jason X. 2002 is the only year in which a Star Wars and a Star Trek film were released in the same year.
