Do you know ernie , obviously you don't but, a mate nearly 25 years ago took all the praise and back slapping for ages after he lost about 7 stone. I only found out this year he used amphet to do it. I did miss the telltale signs of him laying twice as much tarmac as the rest of the gang put together tho Still he earned us a smashing bonus.
Hey, I'm trying to deal with Kemps' out of control binge eating here. I've binned trying to solve his nicotine habit. As indeed, has he.
Funny enough when I did manage to stop I didn't eat a load more, though I did still put weight on. Was thirsty all the time and drank a lot of water however.
I put about a stone and a half on, but lost it a couple of years after stopping. One problem at a time! Never mind Kemps, better luck next time.
I'm currently a non smoker, haven't had a cigarette for four years. I've stopped and started most of my life, but I never remember the actual day I stop but can always remember the the exact time I restarted. Drinking, on the other hand, is something I find immeasurably pleasurable ! Cheers and a merry Christmas to you all !
One view of my uncles post mouth cancer operations and partial tongue removal would cure any persistent smoker. Vile. Happy Christmas to one and all.
Wid ye tho? I wid... Anyway, I stopped smoking again last Sunday and this time I've gone for the Cold Turkey approach. No patch, no e- fags, no nowt. Today's feeling the worst day. That's probably phycological, because we broke up for Christmas today. I picked a really bad time to do this I know, but with peace and love and maybe a little bit of sunshine
Glad to see you followed my advice to wait until the .New Year with less drinking, eating and socialising. Anyway, good luck. Stick with it, you won't regret it.
For me, mental prep was key. I stopped about six years ago, but had the stop-date determined for a while beforehand. Went straight onto an e-cig, which I had for 3 years, then nominated a date to stop (months beforehand) which I knew was coming. First few days were a little hairy but after then... I never ever have once even slightly wavered in each case and I don't even think about it when drinking or stressed anymore. Although if I did, I reckon I could become a full blown smoker quite easily again. Good luck.
I am drinking a lot of water though. Castro, the way I see it, if I can get through Christmas and the new year, I'll have made a good start. Allams Out!
As I said to you earlier in the thread, I drank a lot of water as I was always thirsty. Ate a lot of fruit or had CD a stick of celery instead of sweet treats. First test for me was having a pint. Second was getting through a day at City with loads of drinking. I had stopped twice before for a 11 months but knew I had cracked it when I fractured my ribs ( not for the first time) and was laid at home in pain and with nothing to do. When I got through those few weeks and realised I hadn't been thinking about cigarettes which I did before in similar circumstances I realised I could start considering myself an ex smoker as opposed to someone who had given up. Get through Xmas and New Year and you can will have passed and some of the major hurdles and you will be well on the way.
