Can't remember the last time I watched any highlight show tbh. Used to watch it religiously and wouldn't feel happy unless I'd seen every goal from the weekend.
Don't even do that these days! Unless I watch the match I don't bother, would have been unthinkable 5 years ago.
Actually thinking about it, leaving really early is probably a good thing with the A303 in the summer holidays.
Yeah, I was trying to decide between Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth, but that's going to be a pretty unsociable journey...
Plymouth is the only away day I've done unless you count Wembley. I was at Uni at the time in Plymouth and lived at the other end of the park in which the ground is situated, so it was basically a home game for me at the time. Also happened to be the game that we effectively sealed promotion to the Championship.
I went to Uni in Plymouth as well ... albeit a few years before you (99-03). Used to go and watch Argyle in the Devonport end in the season they went up from L2 to L1. Was only £10 a ticket at the turnstiles. Great city - loved my time down there.
Oh now. Promised to take my lad, me too then. He also wants to go to Stoke on a cold Tuesday night, sounds like a dentist appointment for him in October
I was at that game too, and although it was a day to celebrate it has also tainted my memory of Plymouth. As we were coming out of the ground a Plymouth moron decided to throw a lump of concrete into the crowd. It hit a young girl standing next to me on the side of her face. I'm convinced that if it had hit her full on the head she would have been killed. Her injuries were slight but she went into shock. The last I saw of her was her father taking her off for medical attention and I can only assume she was ok. Unfortunately, that is my abiding memory of Home Park and I always think of her when Plymouth is mentioned. I'm sure it was a one-off event as I have never heard of anything else about hooliganism from there. All the above is a pity because Plymouth is a good day out.
