Such sad news that our friend to this Watford forum will no longer be joining us. David Bowen was born just outside of Norwich, and despite living in many parts of the country always felt that he loved the city and the team. His long battle with cancer has been shared bravely with us and his many friends the length and breadth of the country. His rather odd hours of going to bed and getting up when it was still dark came about from being an all night taxi driver, and he could never get his body clock to adjust after he retired. When I asked him what he did at 3.00 am he said he liked to try and write poetry. He had wide knowledge of many types of music, and plenty of football trivia to hand.
He became a Hornet as well as a Canary, and there will be many people who will miss him badly.
His battle with cancer was very painful, so he is now rid of that, and we wish you peace Dave. <rose>

Morning all. Sunny periods and quite warm in rural France. As a trip into town is required today I thought that maybe we should use Mme's car as it has sat there for a month and the battery is rather old and does not hold a charge that well anymore. Of course it didn't start, so an hour on the trickle charge was needed. It also has been used by the swallows to practice their bombing raids, so a trip to the Blue Elephant will be made while we are in town. Have a good day whatever you must do. <ok>

I cannot add to all your lovely tributes, I have a tear in my eye.

We need a new nest I suggested in a PM that it might be called The Canary's Nest, thoughts.

Good idea...

I think ak would have to rename it as he started the thread......

I would like to keep the hornets theme...

How about:
The Hornet and Canary
The Hornets Nest - Daves Lounge
The Hornets Nest - Daves Bar

etc
etc?

After ten weeks (administrators screwing everything up, left, right and centre - Haematology throwing away samples before doing all necessary tests - twice! He’s had three blood tests, the last one this Monday just gone) trying to find out if Matej had a condition that would make COVID pretty dangerous for him, our GP rang us yesterday to confirm he doesn’t have it. Phew. He’s back to school next week, and I am back to work. :)
The young rat that is Seb isn’t back until September. :steam:

Good news at last. Very pleased for you all. <ok>

Morning all. Belles éclaircies is what the man at the Météo tells us to expect today, and so far he has been spot on. La Poste has just roared past the house in her yellow van. You never know what time she will be around since the coronavirus. Yesterday 1.00 pm, today 10.00 am. As she has gone past it means that there are no bills to pay which I am quite happy with. Sent off a payment in early March for my rubbish collection and they didn't take the payment until late June. Lots of things like that have been going on to help people, but slowly things are returning to normal, although if anything I did notice that a lot more teenagers are now wearing masks when they go into the supermarkets. Have a good day, and may some points be with us. <ok>
