Oddball, what's the price of fuel and road tax like in Froggie Land?

Imaz, did you ever drive a Fiat Tipo in Italy?

Never, once had a Panda 30, the two cylinder 653cc version not sold in the UK. Great engine noise but a bit of a nightmare trying to pass trucks uphill into a headwind.

FIAT should be in capitals being an acronym like CIA and all.

Italian cars are only worth it in Italy where servicing and repair is cheaper and better than here and where they hold their value.

The legendary Panda 30, hear it roar!:

Not idea re tax as i will be doing this car English ... I will bring it back as and when full of gear i can sell in the flea markets of Brighton via a mate's stall ... They love old crap in Brighton
" I saw you coming types" so in effect these fools will be paying for my trips ... I will look out for some stuffed animals for your pantry

Fuel in France? where i am I may use agri diesel if i can as no one seems to care about red smoke locally but I doubt if i can get away will that nowadays so its 130E a litre

Bollocks the V6 has problems ... Head Gasket and a court case ... Due to go Friday as well.

Cars but selling a pup is one thing I won't stand for ever. Mr Cnut of Essex may have a few problems appear within the next few years

Sorry to hear that DT. Do you suspect its been clocked?

Nope it's tip top genuine 50K but yes we feel stupid now as Had a full Renault diagnostics that revealed coolant fixing, Fraud on new MOT and disabled service lights ... The seller meant to do this

We went for what looked a bargain but at £3000 it's now worthless and was quoted £7000 to do works HG and new ABS system ... £4000 is labour ... That is top dollar

I had one is mind for £5000 that gave us 2 year RAC warranty but was put off with 71,000K

I wanted a VW T4 but a gain not paying 10K - 15K for a car we will only be using 6 times a year

I have a solution on this car in mind anyway as there is no Oil/water mixing or smoke ... small gas leak in the cooling system and I will remove the thermostat and run some K seal through it first off before i drive it naked into a river

Exchange engine would seem the way forward. Plenty available and not overly expensive. We swapped my BMW 320 race car engine over one evening a while back. Not as crazy an idea as it sounds

Sorry to hear that DT, but with private sales it's always 'caveat emptor'...

We have options Wubba ... it's just a car and the disappointment is the people who sold it IMO ... No way could i do that and in my case it was carefully concealed and i went over things carefully but well enough it seems. They drive very well but false economy buying so cheap and therefore lesson learnt. I will try and fix and scrap it as could never live with myself passing any fault goods on

True words Be I wasn't aware Sooper ... in my case a lot of people in trouble with money who will stop at nothing to get it. We picked it up after in Essex after a party and everything Zen was telling us not to buy it looking back at it but we licked the hand of the devil

A few years back i bought a '94 Espace as a snotter to leave in Spain. Got as far as Nottingham when head gasket went. Not as bad a repair as it sounds. The abs will be a nightmare to fix. Any Renault specialist indie companies near you?

Get yourself something van based and there'll always be less problems. Renaults are bad news in particular the large, complicated and expensive ones. In the past they made some decent solid cars, the 4, 12 and perhaps the first series 5. The 12 is still around in francophone West Africa, owned one myself.

Wanted a T4 VW but too much money
This dog will live another day
I have knocked out all but three service lights ... It's a game of chess my friend and time I am finished with its brain it will think its German

This is quite the find, stored away in an old garage for so many years:-

Used to love watching CCC. Wayne Carini gets to some real gems. If you have money, you can always find the time to find something.

Dear Swords

I still have a V6 Renault Grand Espace to fix marooned in London. It needs a head gasket and i am in a dilemma with Mrs DT who has buried her head in the sand. I want to move on after being stopped visiting the seller and lumping him by Mrs DT who's yoga ethics claim the universe has a way of working these things out.... she claims she will be right as we have sold two outbuildings in France we didn't even want for a nice sum

Ebay on side with our case and suggest we get the Police involved and take the seller to small claims court

£2600 to fix it with a re con engine or do i spend the money having the gaskets done? 2x3 It's a V6 .... I only paid £3200 for this one with well under 60K on clock and can't find one that cheap with that mileage in the UK ... check if you want.

Bloke tricked me but we didn't pay anywhere near the £5,500 they seem to make with that milage

So ... Repair and know we have a car that will do a job for us in France or scrap the bastard ... please take note that I have already spent £1000 plus in hire car charges since the QPR final and Renault Grand Espaces fetch great money in France ... in fact i wouldn't get change from 12,000 - !5,000 Euros for the model/spec we have. Note French Renault garages know how to repair these motors but I can't get it there with a head gasket gone. And no I do not want a Ford ... It must seat 7 people in comfort. And yes I should of got a VW T5 ... but the Espace pays for itself very quickly against Hire car charges

Repair or despair or just let it all flow and buy another one (donar car)

I put that one in here Oddball as Loretta's gone to the World Cup.

I don't think this'd be a case of throwing good money after bad mate. You've made a significant investment that has so far gone sour but its retrievable. You got the Motor for a couple of grand cheaper than you possibly should have so I'd go with the recon which would bring your total investment up to around 5.8k which would roughly be the same as the other prices you seen for these cars. Okay, you're out of pocket a grand for hire cars etc but there's no way you can just scrap it man. Not after chucking more than 3 big ones into it. Source a good engine and fitter and go with that IMO. (How much would a new one cost btw?)

Fu*king Renault. I just had to pay 700 quid to fix mine :(
