Does the Espace have the same fully electronic dashboard as the Megane Grand Scenic? Careful if so as that part has major problems, Renault replace it for a £100 flat fee or at least they still did a couple of years ago.

V6 take full ownership Sunday 49,000 miles so should last a year. Only car that can carry my bikes and seven people and then turn into a wheelbarrow for the garden

Unfortunately they have a bad rep for that alright but I think they've sorted most of that out. I've had my Renault a year now and no problems so far (touch wood).

As we are on an automobile thread, I wish to share some sad news with you all.
My van has sadly passed away. Viv the Vauxhall, Triggers Broom.......or "the most expensive vehicle I have ever been sold" was left in hospital (aka Vauxhall delaership in Dorset 2 weeks ago). I would have posted earlier but it has been too much of an emotional rollercoaster for me to even think straight. To help you to understand how this vauxhall has affected me, lets call it £6k in last 18 months..........two snapped cambelts (one on going court case against a dodgy garage), second head, recycled turbo, second hand manifold...just a few parts that cost and then there is the labour and VAT. The van didn't pull going up a hill, it was doing 0 to 60............well, at 60 it was likely to stall........so maybe 0 to 30 was 10 mins. Even my normal short trip to work (quickest route by motorised transport 10 mins) was changed to miss any incline.
Anyways, raise a glass to triggers broom..........and say thank fook he got a new vehicle!!

Yep some horror stories out there
And depending what you read it's often software also
The difference is for me that UK Renault garages are simply not the same as in France
I have had two Traffics in the past both had problems over here both fixed over in France in minutes
Prices over there this one I have got would cost me 10.000 euros plus over here 3 grand
I went for the cleanest low mileage I could get but admit I have fears over them ... I have had a few on rental and they have been super cool but they cost 1300 Gbp to hire now a week

I am praying its a good choice as I expect us only to do a few thousand miles a year in it we are in a remote location in France so a car is a must and I am bit paying French prices

We wanted a t4 nine seater but again not paying that money ... I have a glass walk on roof to build rather spend on the house

Two cambelts snapped, used to happen at MOT but they've changed their practice of running them at maximimum revs afaik. Surely a write off after that?

Never had a problem with VW diesels albeit always in Skodas although it's hard to find out how often the belts need changing as they keep changing the mileage/years and it differed across VW and Skoda despite the engine being the same.

Imaz, what's this 'afaik' thing you keep using? Some kind of yoof jargon that has happily passed me by?

Oddball, what's the price of fuel and road tax like in Froggie Land?

Imaz, did you ever drive a Fiat Tipo in Italy?

Not sure about the Tipo Swords but weve just got my lad a Fiat Panda 100hp. What a car! Not as brilliant as my 126 but the handling is superb
