I watched the footage and it is what it is , I don’t understand that whenever things like this occurs which are NOT normal behaviour why some seem to want to defend it or excuse it . There is absolutely no excuse for this or any other anti social behaviour regardless of history .
On what level do so many younger people just shrug their shoulders and say ‘oh well ‘ and look for past unrelated events to water it’s seriousness down
The same way that you, me, many others on here used to see scuffles at football matches, before, during and after, in towns on a weekend night, in taxi queues and many more occasions, without writing a thesis online about how the world was going to hell in a handcart.

Some of the posters protesting the most about 100 teenagers looting cardigans, fruitcakes and bras from M&S are the ones that have written many posts about witnessing fights between fans at football matches in the 1970s and how it created a better atmosphere.

Different thing altogether. Trouble is you and your cohorts excuse any bad behaviour by going on youngsters nowadays by coming out with examples of irrelevant, unconnected claptrap.

Another stat from today's phone in (how apt).
And I know it's a stat from a year or more ago.
1 phone reported stolen in London every 6 minutes. That's just 'reported' thefts. Imagine what the real number is!!
Less than 2% recovered of those reported.
Twas ever the same, right through the 60's, 70's ..... oh hang on :emoticon-0112-wonde
Phones have been stolen since the 50s, the difference is nowadays we know more about it because of social media. Innit.

Fairly sure it was in the early hours UK time, we were allowed to stay up and watch as it was so historic. :emoticon-0138-think
Was on holiday and at my parent’s house so sat up watching it. Was with my girlfriend of the time who made a valiant effort to stay awake as we had been out and had quite a few drinks but she fell asleep and missed the historic moment.

Knowing how my mind works, fancy phrasing it like that! :emoticon-0138-think

They've thrown £4.5m at having a clampdown this year, between mid Jan and Feb, 770 phones were recovered and 248 people arrested.
That's about 3 days worth of phone thefts based on the above figures and 1 days worth of arrests? They're piddling money up against the wall at that rate.

In actual fact and to be fair,London is fairly well policed and their's plain clothes coppers everywhere. If something kicks off they're generally in the area and on it.The rest of the Country is nowhere near as well policed.

That's a strange claim Jim. As recently as 1995 only 7% of the population of this country actually owned a mobile. Don't think many were pinched in those days? Mine was the size of a house brick, and that would have took some snatching. Before the invention of the mobile phone the only phone 'thefts' I can remember wasn't theft as all it was an act of vandalism when idiots cut the cable of the handset in a public telephone box, which was as common as another idiot using the booth as a public toilet. Cannot remember many phone boxes being stolen? Also anyone wealthy enough to have their own private phone in their house in the 50's was renting it from a telephone company. Don't remember a black market for them either?
Or have I just been whooshed?

What's different? It's social disorder, existed when I was young, when you were young. Just the skin colour and the accents are different. No different to you and your mates fighting on the terraces and kicking coppers in the 1970s.

Stop it with these ridiculous comparisons. The original point was large scale shoplifting organised on TikTok. You seem obsessed with skin colour.
Surprised you haven’t mentioned footpads and highwaymen (all white) in the 16th and 17th centuries.

What do you mean by different skin types in the 70s ?

Or Wellington and Napoleon having a set to at Waterloo...Shocking, and interpol are still looking for Napoleons phone.

And other idiots accuse others of being ridiculous
Yes, it certainly is ridiculous comparing events in the 1950s and 1960s to a load of school kids running amok after it was organised on TikTok.The Krays similar. PMSL.

So how does Napoleon fit into this? But nice you know you're an idiot x

I was quoting idiotic statements by your mate.
Is there a limit how far you can go back? How can someone conflate the Krays with schoolkids acting like silly trays in a rampage organised on TikTok?

And I pointed out an idiotic statement from your mate. You don't make the rules about what can and cannot be used in an argument. You always try control the narrative and dismiss other people's viewpoint, I'm merely trying to level the playing field.
