BBC Look North, Peter Levy, just a few minutes ago 'viewers comments now on the racist and homophobic chanting at Hull City', more lies to follow.

Noted that both managers said they never heard it and 4 arrests had been made.

I will stand by my first and only other comment on this subject.

Homophobia doesn't still exist in football at all, unless it's being used to defend against a REAL crime - racism.

(Note to DMD: I actually see both as a hate crime, my emphasis on racism being the 'real' crime is sarcasm to reflect the view used by Prestianni in his defence)

It's an interesting point.
If you mock / remove / ignore all those things but don't replace them with something really meaningful that people can get behind then there's a massive vacuum left. The country no longer knows what it actually is any more .... and that feels like what is happening.
The church isn't the answer as the majority see through it and have turned away, never to return.
The monarchy have self destructed and aren't really relevant to anything much anymore (other than ceremonial purposes).
Old fashion values are fading fast.
It feels like we need to define what it means to be British (or English?), what is expected of us (or conversely what can't be tolerated). But how the hell does that happen nowadays when the country is more divided than it's ever been?
I think there is an answer but it wouldn't be universally popular, and I can't go there as it veers into politics.

Interesting that you talk about division but you are staunchly taking one side of that division. I don't see a divided community, I see a society that is working it's way through integrating different ideals. I don't believe the UK needs to cling onto outdated principles, I think it needs a way to fit in the world as it is now and the multicultural life we now live. Before you go on about 'migrants' doing bad things ruining our society, I agree that anyone who breaks the law deserves punishing, and I do see that as an area that needs work as the balance isn't quite right at the moment. I'm sure it will come with time, but I don't think taking sides and trying to blame 'the other side' helps.

Don’t see much integrating of ideals from a certain community.
