Really? And you know this how.
I have given out details before to people who been willing to read my posts. I'll not be bothering to do it again. I'll just say that I am satisfied he would have stayed the extra season had Saints qualified for the CL at the expense of the club he transferred to.

Besides, I could ask you the same question. :)

Wow! I've missed a discussion tonight. When you read through having not taken part in it, I see lots of passionate saints fans sticking to their view, on both sides and both sides somewhat blinkered with their own view.

I've just checked the calendar and the fixture list and below is what I saw:

1. It's July
2. I could only see one Europa league two legged tie
3. The transfer window ends on Sept 1st

Why did I note these things? Well there is still 5 weeks of the window left - plenty of times to get players in.

We may only play two Europa league games. We may only play 4. We may get to the group stages. My bet is that we have things lined up based on our progression. Have the debate about squad numbers on September 2nd.

On the players going and staying, what's Morgan earning now? How much has Clyne increased his salary by now? Nobody knows if they would have stayed or gone had we made Champions league. NOBODY ON HERE, despite what they may claim, so it's a pointless debate. Fabian Adelphi said he was staying at Villa - that lasted 5 days.

Just like last season, what happens in August won't define our season. Reading through his thread, I really dread reading the forum if Saints don't finish above 7th place.

Maybe Tom didn't see your post TSS. You could explain to him, rather than just dismiss his question. Hardly forum etiquette. I remember what you said, but others may not have.

We're going to finish top, Flt, and win the Europe league so it's all irrelevant anyway.

Maybe it's the rum and cokes, but I've not seen much negativity here. Just people expressing what they think the club should do in the rest of the window.

Pre-Season is virtually over and the youngsters have had their chances to show Ron if their ready to be part of the main squad.
By the sound of things I don't think any of them have significantly increased their standing. Reed looks set to remain 4th choice DM and potentially we'll be signing two CBs ahead of McCarthy, Turnbull and Stephens

I've said it quite enough times for one lifetime. I don't like to make a big song and dance about it because I only get the information sparcely, but what I do get can be relied upon.

I also return to the point I made some months ago that rival clubs (and the closer they are the more they'll do it) will actually target Saints players rather than go elsewhere in order to both improve themselves and disrupt us. A double hit. It was as plain as the nose on my face when I first suggested it and we've had plenty of evidence of it since.

Yes, they have a master plan to bring Saints to their knees by massively overpaying for crap players. It's brilliant!

Get real. The big clubs do not see Saints as any sort of threat. Which is actually kind of good, because their arrogance might be their undoing.

Why do you sometimes take an aloof stance TSS? This post and the one to Tom comes across like you are above having to repeat your view. Sorry if that's me being rude, but I think it's a shame that you don't answer a question just because a poster (not me) doesn't recall what you said before.

On the subject in hand, Morgan, if you were told that Morgan would have stayed another year if we'd made CL.... Is there the slightest, tiniest, possibility that he could have changed his mind? If course there is.

I had some information from my source that didn't happen and that source is incredibly reliable, but the subject of that discussion changed their mind on something. It does happen.

I am with you FLT, regardless of finishing 4th, if Man U came knocking and would then triple his wages, Morgan would 100% leave IMO.
Morgan gave us 7 good years and he wanted to go to the next level, he's gone with no hard feelings from me.
Excited by the appointment of Clasie and another yet to be signed.

I guess the thing we all have to remember when we receive information from our "in the know Resources" is that what they hear and what is told to us is nearly always open to interpretation. How often is it that different interpretations of one word changes the whole meaning of a conversation?
Also this is a football discussion Forum and opinions are bound to vary and it is great that they do. Would be bloody boring if we all just agreed, wouldn't it?
I really do not think we can have any beef with Morgan. As others have said he gave us 7 good years then had a chance to more or less double his income. I cannot honestly see many of us out there doing anything different.
It is frustrating though that we are being used as a feeder club, at times, to the big and mighty. We should be able to compete with the likes of Spurs, Aston Villa even Everton to name a few. We are not so far away from their gate sizes etc albeit perhaps we don't have their history but we are not going to make a history if we can't/don't compete to keep the better players.
Definitely a chicken and egg situation perhaps!!

Just an FYI, my very reliable source was Ronald Koeman. :) I heard him say Toby wanted to stay. Toby then changed his mind. I was being a little facetious, but the point was there.

No matter what we are told, things can change.

Yes, it's frustrating but last season showed us that although we liked/loved the players for their performances in the red and white. They're not exactly out of this world, god gifted mega footballers.

If you asked other fans to name their two best premier league XIs(never mind rest of world) and potentially none of our recent positive bank balance contributors would be in it (I'd always have Morgan :emoticon-0115-inlov)

The club are doing their best to replace like for like.
They're not replacing Alan Shearer with Speedie, Dixon and Dowie that's for sure

I still think a Dixon/Speedie combo is going to work... it has to right?

Our players will continue to leave for better wages and better opportunity to win trophies, or to appear in the CL.
For me, to slow the trend down, we have to at least start reaching cup finals. We have to be able to say to players, "yes the wages are lower than at other clubs, but we are giving you a chance to be on the pitch, for a cup final and not in a seat in the stands, watching it as a squad player."
Obviously we have to try to maintain the progress in the league, but I would love it more if we made it to a Wembley final.

Or, even better, a St. Jakob-Park final. :)

Getting to cup finals hasn't helped anyone else. There's only one way to keep hold of your players:

Buy **** players.
