Domestic cups, are for the small fry, the ingrained middle order, or the comfortable elite, they are not for strivers; hauling themselves up the ladder. We're trying to establish ourselves as a top team at present. I'm not bored of finishing 8th or 7th as long as there there's possibility (as there certainly has been) the chance of achieving higher.

Includes the statement - "Morgan Schneiderlin is more quietly efficient than eye-catching. The France international lacks experience at the highest level and there were times at the Levi's Stadium when Barcelona played around him rather too easily. Improvement will come though, especially with Michael Carrick's experience cajoling him into the right positions".

Wow! I've missed a discussion tonight. When you read through having not taken part in it, I see lots of passionate saints fans sticking to their view, on both sides and both sides somewhat blinkered with their own view.

I've just checked the calendar and the fixture list and below is what I saw:

1. It's July
2. I could only see one Europa league two legged tie
3. The transfer window ends on Sept 1st

Why did I note these things? Well there is still 5 weeks of the window left - plenty of times to get players in.

We may only play two Europa league games. We may only play 4. We may get to the group stages. My bet is that we have things lined up based on our progression. Have the debate about squad numbers on September 2nd.

On the players going and staying, what's Morgan earning now? How much has Clyne increased his salary by now? Nobody knows if they would have stayed or gone had we made Champions league. NOBODY ON HERE, despite what they may claim, so it's a pointless debate. Fabian Adelphi said he was staying at Villa - that lasted 5 days.

Just like last season, what happens in August won't define our season. Reading through his thread, I really dread reading the forum if Saints don't finish above 7th place.
Yeah- where were you? Was a good debate/discussion and all done in the nicest of ways - all polite and courteous!! :emoticon-0100-smile

Made the start of the week a little challenging this morning! :emoticon-0101-sadsm

They bought him from some country bumpkin side or other, didn't they?

This match reporter must lack experience of watching football at the highest level.
This is ****ing Barcelona! Who have been passing the ball around "rather too easily" against every team for the last decade.

It's also a friendly for the single purpose of making money. Not in need of a 1000 word report/analysis.

You've got to remember how far we fell in 5 years and how far we've risen in the next 5.
As a fan expectation is a trap we all fall into, as a Saints fan for more years than I care to remember I know this well.
Enjoy the ride now because it won't get much better!!!
