Because we still have loads of time after tomorrow, and our targets may change if we get into the Europa. I'm not saying the club isn't putting feelers out on players or making enquiries but if a player is actually visiting the city then I would guess they are just doing a medical/finalising the deal. I may be completely wrong
 
It was mentioned during the last Newcastle game that it would be the last game for Jonas. He had a stormer of a game and will find a club no prob. Let's face it, if you are recovering from cancer the last thing you need is to work for a bunch of ****wads, getting out will do him the world of good

Better to get deals done quick tho. Even waiting a few days could mean missing out. I get what you mean tho, but can see deals being done very early this time.

I agree, especially if Arsenal win tomorrow as our season would start that little bit earlier.

Ofc the selfish part of me wants deals to be done in little stages over the summer rather than all at the beginning to save me from getting bored over the summer break :D

For someone like Januzaj, I can't imagine Europa makes a difference. Either for the player or for the club. If we want him, it will have been planned out well in advance, and we wouldn't get him as a backup or squad player nor would he be interested in coming here for that.

But maybe for some of our more marginal targets, I think this weekend's results might make a difference.

I generally have a low opinion of Ashley, and I think Newcastle treated Gutierrez badly while he was out.

But Gutierrez paved his own way out by publicly criticizing the ownership multiple times. I just don't see how you could resign him in that situation.

Having said that, I can well understand why Gutierrez would be outraged and his treatment on a personal level, and also maybe even because he believes trying to pressure Ashley out is good for the club. But in that case, I would guess he's probably not too upset about being released.

Agree, yes we'd have to negotiate the qualifying round, but Europa is a minimum of 10 additional games.

That makes a big difference to the player numbers required and where the reported interest in loan moves for Odegaard & Bamford make a little more sense

I really, really could not care where Clyne goes, if he is to leave us. Just as long as we get fair money for him (I doubt it would be anything over the odds, given his contract only having 12 months left), then I do not give a monkies.

Barcelona. Liverpool. Oldham. Makes no odds to me.
