Schneiderlin would get into City, United and Arsenal's midfield and they should all be looking at him as an option. I'd even go as far as saying he'd get in Chelsea's lineup - if they moved Fabregas forward. I think Chelsea and City will both be looking for a bigger name, but unless Arsenal and United do the same then I can't see them missing their chance on a player like Morgan. Still, let's hope Arsenal stick with Coquelin with Ramsey, Cazorla and Wilshere capable of playing there, and United try and go for someone like Pogba.

City don't always go for big names, weirdly enough. Obviously they mainly do, but players like Fernandinho weren't exactly household names or even recognised full internationals. Homegrown is almost certainly more important at the moment.

It's Saints, this will run for weeks yet. They like to torture us :)

But it is definitely mellow in comparison to last season and what usually happens with our players.
This is how transfers went down in the '80s and '90s in the papers as far as I remember. This is how it should be. It could happen, and probably will, but it's not decreed as some club's birthright to grab Morgan - likewise, he's drawn some boundaries, beyond which he would prefer to stay at Saints. It's probably because we're at a stage of acceptance, and he has been open, but also that Arsenal are really no one's enemies - at least when it comes down to a comparison with the true axis of evil. I get the feeling a sensible decision will be made, whatever happens.

We get a bit of hope; he gets a bit of hope; there's a shaded area in the middle of the Venn diagram where he stays. Or else he panics and jumps ship to Spurs or Liverpool at the end of the window!

The only thing that worries me about the Morgan situation is the impact on the Clasie business. If people are aware Clasie is available for 12 odd mill, and Morgan's position drags on for a while, there's every possibility we could cock things up with this.

Now where has my half empty glass got to?

Reactions: PMR always a Saint

Or, we could buy Clasie early, the Morgan sale goes tits up and we end up with both! :)

I was referring to the signing of Clasie :)

As I am not entirely familiar with Claise, if he joined us and Morgan did stay, would a midfield of Morgan, Victor and Claise work ?. Claise seems very similar in style to Wiltshere, in that they can both make a tackle but are at their best in the link role with attack and midfield.

Only problem with Hernandez is that he until recently was trying to secure a contract with arguably best club in the world and surely ending up on the south coast of England would't seem nearly as glamorous to him.

So you're saying that we shouldn't sign him because he's played for the best club in the world?

Such backward logic. He is still young enough, and will obviously be hungry for first team football! He would be an amazing signing (not that I think we could ever get him)

No, I'm saying that he might perceive that move as a huge step backwards in his career and might come here with a bad attitude and not in a right frame of mind. After Osvaldo, I don't want another player like that. He also saw us as being too small for him.

I've got a feeling, considering how close to the top 4 we were for most of the season, the fact we have a bit of cash in the bank and that Ronald has mentioned a couple of times this year that we don't have that one killer forward to win a game from nothing, that we might, just might sign a monster forward

Like who? We're not going to pay monster wages so I can't see us doing that. I'd be very happy with Charlie Austin.
