But players can get worse as well.... Not writing him of yet. But after a below average first season and now a big injury. Gardos will take time to get back to full fitness as well, so he has to prove himself big time once back. Then if the rumour of Caulker is true, Gardos could see himself being 5th choice and no player of his age wants that.

Sure, agreed, but there seems little appetite for giving people a chance on occasion here! He may well fail, but let's give him (and Caulker) a fair crack of the whip.

Also I find the writing off of Gardos as 'not good enough' depressing. He's been here one season, done nothing wrong, and here's a thing - players can improve...
I seem to remember Gardos performing rather superbly in our win at Old Trafford after Toby left the pitch early. That doesn't exactly fit the "not good enough" bill for me.

Someone a lot of us are keen on:

SEVILLA OFFER FOR EVERTON TARGET ‘ridiculous’

Anderlecht president Roger Vanden Stock has described Sevilla’s offer for Belgium playmaker Dennis Praet as “ridiculous”.

Sevilla, according to reports in Spain, have tabled a bid of around €6m for the 21-year-old, who won Belgium’s Golden Shoe award earlier this year.

Vanden Stock says the youngster, who has been linked with Everton, is ready to try his luck elsewhere but says Sevilla will have to up their offer if they want to land the midfielder.

He told Het Nieuwsblad: “What Sevilla offer for the best Belgian player is ridiculous. We want a fair price. Dennis Praet wants to go. The best thing for Praet is to stay for one more year.”

With the media reporting we are looking at a loan move for a CB, here is a discussion, Caulker or Chambers?
IMHO, Caulker is probably a better specialist CB but Chambers is more versatile and can play CB, RB and DM

Not really any point in discussing Chambers. Wenger said no approach has happened and he is part of the first team squad.

I still think we will bring in a CB to replace Toby and that Caulker is being considered as cover for Gardos. On loan, we can either keep him and sell Gardos next year, or send Caulker back.

It all seems fairly sensible and straight forward to me and I am not sure why some seem to have crossed wires.
In no particular order:
Last year..................This Year
Toby ....................... New CB (Virgil)
Fonte........................ Fonte
Maya........................ Maya
Gardos .................... Caulker (possibly on loan)
