Well obviously you would have an owl standing beside the goal giving directions to the mole.

Nah, he'd just spend his time trying to convince our players to play for Liverpool to secure their international place.

....oh hold on, he does that already....

This thread has turned into the Wind in the Willows.

Has anyone heard the rumour Mr Toad is trying to set up a leveraged buyout and install Ratty as manager with Badger as Director of Football?

The Charlie Austin transfer saga will continue ....Charlie was on his way to Newcastle but if they sign this guy for £13m surly he will go elsewhere now...........interesting.

Villa most likely. They've got some cash to spend.

But quite how much "some" is, will be interesting. I'm not sure Lerner will put the whole £40m up for spending.

I'm not sure Villa would be a great career move for Austin. A club that has gone nowhere for a while now, and a risk that he might find himself back in the Championship in 12 months time.

Could say the same about Newcastle tbf. I really don't think most footballers actually give a **** about career and bettering it. They will go to whichever club plays at the highest level, are closest to whichever part of the country they want to be in and pays the most. Newcastle and Villa are pretty similar in standing so I'd guess Austin would prefer Villa as he it is closer to home, but if Newcastle offer more money then he will go there.

Yeah probably not a great career move but despite the hype no-one seems to have gone all out to sign him. Man Utd need a striker but they wont go for him and if Newcastle go for Mitrovic I cant see too many other clubs besides villa willing to stump up 15m+. They need to replace benteke and can't blame a cash flow issue on not bidding for him.

He's english, young and a talented striker. If he can net a fair few for villa i don't think his stock would plummet too much even if villa get relegated.

Throw in that Utd are supposedly looking at Kane for £40m+ and Austin seems like a bargain. Fancy Utd to run Chelsea pretty close this year, but if they get Kane then that might change, and also rumoured to be swapping Di Maria for Cavani which would be mental.

I still think we can afford, and could use Austin. However, spending £15m doesn't appear to be the sort of thing we're going to do anymore. If the board decide not to go for it, I will be a little disappointed but I can live with it. After all, there's been a lot of talk about sustainability recently, so maybe we can't have our cake and eat it.
