Arsenal are far more ambitious than NUFC and far less in dire need of reinforcement - their situation is so alien to ours. Before the season started they looked to have a great squad, apart from GK. They signed Cech to rectify this, no messing around. If their squad was anywhere close to as deficient as ours they would be making sure that they did the necessary to rectify the situation and they would not be taking until the end of the window to do so. Everton have greater similarities as they very rarely spend much. However they still manage to do what they need to in order to be competitive, not just scrape by. They were more ambitious with their managerial appointment than we have been and when they had a player on loan who did very well for them, they did what was required to secure his permanent transfer. We have seen NUFC run into the ground over successive transfer windows, successful loan players allowed to leave (wouldn't want to pay high wages) and too little being done about clear squad weaknesses this summer. The priority still seems to be to strengthen just enough as has been judged to survive and then make do and get by.

Arsenal may be more ambitious but their fans have been calling out for a goalie for a few years now and this has just been addressed. They are still calling out for a world class striker and have been for years but in relative terms Arsenal have been shopping at a level or two below that eg Giroud.

Everton fans are so happy with their Club that a number of their Supporters organisations got together to fly a banner over the Southampton ground yesterday. Net spend on average I think I read is about £2M over the last 5 years.

I'm not saying we are good or that players don't need to be bought but just that claims of the apocalypse should be left until at least the current transfer window is shut. McLaren has just got here. We have bought 3 players this window of better apparent quality than for a while and if rumours are to be believed we are still trying to get in a couple more. Let's see what happens in the next 2 weeks before we commit mass suicide off the Tyne Bridge.

Aldi is the fastest growing supermarket in the UK and is winning awards left right and centre.

Yes but thats because it represents value and its never going to be anything but **** in comparison to marks and Spencers

Aldi is like newcastle united a no frills operation.

Can everyone please stop wigging out because we lost, away, against a good Swansea side after playing most of the game with 10 men in only the 2nd game with a totally new coaching team.

Also last season I was not Sissoko's biggest fan but as of now I am not sure why everyone has been saying he needs to go. He has been good in both games so far. I say we keep him.

And can everyone get off Mitro's case. Granted he has been let's say a little enthusiastic to make his mark but he has played about 15 mins. Looks to me like he has got a good touch and will be a good signing for us.

Basically can we give it at least 2 months instead of 2 weeks before kicking off about it all again. Things have changed since last year but it's gonna take at least a couple of transfer Windows to sort the team out.

I respect you like to tell yourself everything is ok and suspect its your way of dealing with things and you should never change.

I however say what i see and i see the same ****e wearing our shirt.

Too many are simply not good enough and my concern is thar the people that matter don't seem to see it.

Seriously whats changed? Weve added 3 players of which two started but the rest of the division is tougher too.

Mclaren is in serious trouble if he thinks what hes currently doing will work with the players hes got, he really is a modern day general custer.

Sissoko is essential to out season lads.
I went all Tash when we signed him and my view hasn't changed. He is pure class.

Old Panthro here reminds me of the public toilet attendant who complains about the pimps, prostitutes, gays, lesbians and drug addicts using the toilets for their various activities and then says it's like a breath of fresh air when someone comes in for s sh!t,

For a player is only one footed, cannot tackle, cannot head and goes missing 2 out of every 3 games and in the 1 game in. 3 he does turn up usually only performs very well 3 or 4 times a season and also does not have a footballing brain a la Cabaye and I am unable to recall him dominating a game at all as opposed to short periods of a game, I fail to see where the world class description aspect comes in.

Would happily sell on a better replacement being got.

That can be said for our entire squad

If this proposed deal involving Cabella is true I will be ****ing disgusted. It's bad enough we're offering so much for a player who has been pretty poor over the past 18 months - it's bad enough we're getting rid of a very promising young player who has barely had a chance and needs time to adapt - but to be spending this much on an attacking player when our defence is so **** is scandalous.

How many chances are we going to give to a complete pile of **** like Obertan? Crazy. The club really pisses me off.

By all accounts Thauvin will be here with Cabella going to Marseilles in return for the season season with a view to them buying. Can McLaren not see we need a commanding CB NOW after 2 games and 3 headed goals against us. Wait till Fellaini and Giroud get against us in the next 2 weeks. Colo couldn't even out jump a 5'9" winger for god's sake,

Shame about Cabella. Guess that's how we roll at the new ambitious NUFC.

Cabella is a no10. We have signed Wijnaldum to play there and we all know that 'ambitious' NUFC will still only want one 'purple' per position (wages again). Thauvin is apparently a more effective winger than Cabella, so that is probably the reasoning. Obertan is probably on far lower wages and that will always be the most important thing at a MA owned NUFC.

It is a shame though as Cabella looked good playing that no10 last season when he was given a shot at it. Against Chelsea stands out.
